She also does a podcast with Jason Campbell called Bleav in Auburn
Make it happen! Talk about pulling a rabbit out of the hat. I guess even a blind hog finds an acorn every once in a while. Cohen may have just saved his job. Golesh > Sumrall. And we probably keep Durkin as DC. This could be great if true.

Please hire Golesh.
If Florida offers $2M/yr. more than AU and with no income tax in Florida, it would be hard for Auburn to convince him to honor his non binding agreement to Auburn unless they match or exceed Florida's offer.
I wish we would pivot to one of the remaining winning G6 coaches out there (Troy Taylor, Ryan Silverfield, Alex Golesh, Bob Chesney, etc.). Even if it delays the hire a week. As long as we keep Durkin as DC we should be able to hold the roster and signing class together as well as we could with a new hire on Sunday.

Maybe Cohen needs to get Bo Jackson and/or Bruce Pearl to call Sumrall.

Bob Chesney

I didn’t know he was even on our radar but he’d be a good hire.

Yes I would think so.

I remember the last time AU hired a Head Football Coach who was a former SEC player, coached as an SEC assistant coach, and then moved on to be Head Football Coach at two lesser college football schools. i dont whom are you thinking of? because i cant think of any AU HC who meets all three of those conditions

Pat Dye. Played at UGA, Asst Coach under Bear Bryant, HC at East Carolina and Wyoming.

There’s no frick yeahs, no trolling the rant, no shite talking or dancing bananas.

Sumrall frick yeah!

What if AU opened the checkbook to a Dan Lanning and said name your price? How would you feel?

I’d rather have Dan Lanning, a sure thing, than Sumrall, if that’s what you are asking.
Again, do you expect him to compete for championships in this conference? It’s a simple question. Do you want a guy who will win you 8 or 9 games a year or do you want to be in the college football playoff discussion? Which is he?

Yes I think he will compete for championships at Auburn and possibly within a few years. Of course I thought that of Hugh Freeze 3 years ago, so I’m certainly no expert at predicting football coaches success or lack thereof.

And what?? Do you expect him to come in and compete for championships or will you be happy with the occasional 9 or 10 win season?

I don’t know what his ceiling is but I like his resume. He is well connected in Alabama as he knows almost all the HS coaches. They voted him the best recruiter in the state a few years ago. At Tulane this year he has only 5 returning starters (combined offense and defense) and over 60 new players yet is competing for the AAC Title and the group of five CFP Spot.

He turned things around quickly at Troy going 23-4 in two seasons. He’s hard nosed and no nonsense. He’s well respected and seen by many as an up and comer in the profession. I’d much prefer him over some of the retreads others prefer.

Hearing it’s all done with Sumrall.

I hope this is true. I’m all in on Sumrall. If we get him and keep Durkin as DC that would be the best outcome. If Sumrall is in the CFP Durkin can manage the team and recruiting, etc. while Sumrall is finishing his Tulane season which I assume would end Dec 19.
Re Sumrall, I’m impressed that with only 5 returning starters (offense and defense combined) and 60 something new players on his roster, he’s contending for a CFP spot. Shows he can build a roster and develop talent. I realize some others can do these things too, but not everybody can. I like his youth and his no excuses, hard nosed approach.
