re: Freeze fired official/coaching search thread

Unless it gets leaked by someone, I doubt we know anything until right after the Iron Bowl. Cohen told Mike G. in an interview that he hoped to have someone within 24 hours after the Iron Bowl.
Probably Charles Kelly. :yack:

And it's not just us Auburn and not just the SEC. Dabo went scorched earth on Officiating in the ACC as well fairly recently. that area of the product has to improve immensely and very soon because you're starting to see more and more Players, Coaches and Fans getting tired of the BS.
One thing is for certain. Jville is annoying as shite. also, how is there not an ignore function on this board, or is there and i'm just missing it? I have Ublock Origin installed, maybe i can figure up some kind of filter for that to block all of Jville's posts.

Yeah, that just goes to show you that either Jake Thornton is a shite OL coach or either Chaplin was hiding his disability which is shady as hell. possibly even both of those may be true. how the hell did they not know he was deaf in one ear at his previous stop, or even further back. you're telling me nobody at any point thought to check this kid out? seems like something that we could used to cut some of his NIL.
Was Chaplin the highly coveted OL that we paid big money for in the portal this go around or was that someone else?

can't stand this a-hole pavia. hopefully we come out of here with a win and send him out losing to us in his "final" year. wouldn't surprise me if we do beat them, he whines to whoever to try and get another year. guy is a major douchebag.

I don't think i'll ever forget that. and every time i see a player spin down like that i'm always wondering if he's actually down.

Shades of Michael Dyer there.
That's a catch all day long every day of the week. but they'll say he was still out.
Has Durkin even hinted at wanting the HC job? I mean, he might not even want that much responsibility again and may be perfectly fine with being only a DC. I get making him the interim, due to experience, but he may have just said ok, i'll do the interim and want to go back to DC after the season.
I have no clue. I was just pointing out that Austin seemed to have more play calling experience than Nix. Nix is the OC in title though and not Austin and maybe Durkin has had some convos with Nix and liked what Nix had to say more than Austin. I guess we'll find out. I don't care who's calling plays as long as they can put the team in position to score points.
According to his wiki, Kent Austin was:
OC
Toronto Argonaunts
Ole Miss
Co-OC
Liberty
so he probably has more play calling experience than Nix. he'll probably be the one calling plays and Nix will do what he's been doing.

I was wondering myself who was going to be calling plays now that Freeze is gone. I guess they'll likely announce who it'll be sometime this week.
I don't really get the disdain for Cohen. he was hired right before Freeze was hired and it seems like one or more prominent boosters were the reason that Freeze got hired. I get that he's the AD but he may not be 100% calling the shots about when Freeze gets fired if the booster thing is true. Has he done anything else that warrants being fired other than the Freeze fiasco? if not, then i'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Honestly, I think it's both coaching and talen, but i admit, i'm not expert at all, not even close. it's entirely possible we have a few talented OL, but hard to tell reall with everything else being what it is.

Well, yeah, obviously, but if the next coach doesn't do something drastic to get some better OL, then it's gonna be the same shite again. no QB can be successful behind an OL this trash and we don't have time to just take one or 2 OL a year. we need an almost entire overhaul of the OL in a season or 2 at most.

also, unless we start massively tampering and offering millions of dollars to all the best OL in the country, nothing is going to change until we get a better OL.
re: Hiring James Franklin is the easiest decision any AD could make.

I'm all in on going the young up and comer route myself. enough with the retreads. also, i'd much rather get a defensive minded coach and let him get a damn good OC and get out of the way. would love for us to go after Marcus Freeman. if we have to go back with someone decently established and from the offensive side, i'd rather make another run at Kiffin.
