I'm sure them having a pretty decent secondary helps things

Even when they didn't have that great of a secondary in 2008 and 2009? Putting pressure on the QB covers a lot of secondary holes.

We could bring In Paul rhoades or Charles Kelly to coach a secondary this year

Based on his time here, looks like Gus prefers established DCs with an aggressive/attacking style.

Not sure would fit that bill... but guys like Paul Roads don’t.

Bama blitzes every single down. Is it a wonder that they're in the top 10 in defense every single year?

they run a 3-4

them pressuring with three DL and one LB isn't a blitz

they do not rush 5 players every single down

I think Steele stays. Of course he would and should go to UT if offered the head job, but I don't see UT hiring Steele to be the head coach.

I think Steele may be offered the DC position at UT, but he stays at Auburn.

Bet. Unless they are playing max coverage on 3rd and very long, there are always 5 or more players rushing the backfield.

If chad Morris ends up at UT, I could see him luring Steele away... they were on the same staff together at Clemson.... and you have the Alma mater factor.

Jim Leonard is the DC at WIsky. He is a young up and coming guy but also an AA DB at WIsconsin. I suspect his next stop will be a head coaching job. I can't imagine him leaving for a lateral move somewhere else even for more money much like Pat Fitzgerald at Northwestern

IF UT hires Steele, they are a bigger shite show than they look.....and they look horrible.

The reason I say this.....Coach Steele is not a young man. I still think it will be Tee.

Only if he's willing to to the job for what we're already paying him

ETA: Yes, I know, that deal ran out in 2015, but it's still funny, in a sad kind of way....

And I'm starting to think maybe we'd be better off if Steele left - these last two years are probably the best defenses he's ever coached. He may start regressing to the mean next year...

Is he going to be willing to be both AD + DC at the same time?

Pruitt blitzes a lot but that's just untrue. He doesn't blitz EVERY single play. He has relied more on blitzing this year because Bama hasn't been able to produce a consistent pass rush with their front 4. AU hasn't had to blitz as much because our front 4 has been so dominant most of the season

FYI here are just 3 examples from first quarter against AU of him not blitzing

Hoping we don't lose Steele. He's been a huge bright spot for Auburn. Our defense plays lights out for him

T-Rob should be the first phone call if Steele leaves.

good lord

not only are you melting all over this board... you don't even understand football when you do

LINK

Here's a quick recap of the 1st quarter 4 man rushes

25 total offensive plays by Auburn
13 of them Alabama rushed four

They blitzed roughly half the time.

Can't wait for you to look at this, come back, and claim that when their two middle-linebackers come up into the running lanes that they are actually blitzing
