News just stopped regarding Heron's transfer.

Apparently he wants to be closer to home as his mom suffered a major concussion recently. Best of luck to him. He will always be remembered as an Auburn Tiger. And best wishes to his mother and family and she makes her recovery.

Zagsblog is saying his mother has been sick for over a year (we did know this already) and that he is transferring to be closer to home. Will apply for immediate eligibility via hardship waiver.

So maybe Uconn?

He hated UConn out of HS from what I hear, but maybe that was just Ollie

Either way, if his mom is sick, I wish him the best

That would make a lot more sense. If this is the case, hopefully the waiver is passed for him and best of luck to him.

He did a lot for Auburn.

Auburn (or any school) isn't for everyone.

As long as the player is respectful, were straight about situation w staff and gave their all when in uniform, I wish them the best.

I never loved Heron game, but I'm happy he was at Auburn for these past two seasons and will root for him wherever he ends up

We gotta love him. I think him committing to us when we had no track record should truly be appreciated. I think his commitment helped others feel better about coming here when there was little to show in the way of success and high level player development.

Back to the lineup discussion.. worth remembering Purifoy has to sit out 9 games or so. He may not get his starting spot back by default if Samir is as good as advertised.

I'm also wondering if McLemore will be ready to go day 1 or if we will have to be eased back into play.

He was walking on it in a boot during the NCAAT, so I assume his recovery is going extremely well.

None of that really matters as Harper, Brown, Doughty and Purifoy should all avg around 30mpg with a floor of 25mpg

But...

Doughty though will play the Divichenzo role from Nova. Utility 6th man who plays PG/SG/SF

He's the guy we want on the floor when our offensive role players are in. He is the rare playmaker who makes things happen on his own

I agree functionally.. but starting is important to certain players, so I thought it to be worth bringing up. Hopefully one of Purifoy/Doughty would be willing to come off the bench.

First 5* in school history, committing to a deadbeat program with a coach fresh off of a show-cause?

He gave us two good years. We take those.

He was offered by Oregon.. but unless something drastic happens, he seems to be all Auburn.

Most recent Okoro

The Nike EYBL league just ended and Akingbola(18), Okoro(19) and Cooper(20) all balled out. Could be a solid foundation moving forward if these players headline our next three classes.. which i feel they will. I look for Cooper to take over for Harper and start day 1, if he so chooses.

Basically, Auburn is replacing Mustapha Heron, Desean Murray and Davion Mitchell with Austin Wiley, Danjel Purifoy and Samir Doughty.

Tweet from josh vitale pretty well sums it up... that’s a trade out we gotta like. Significant upgrade in length and scoring ability... Wiley should really improve or rim protection and rebounding.

I'll take that trade 10/10 times. We are a much more versatile team scoring the basketball now.

Roster construct a little different now.. not much guard depth but plenty of depth at the 4 and 5.

Yeah we still need to go get a GT PG/CG.

If it is that important to Doughty, he could start over Brown/Harper too

Doughty is more PG than SF.

Not sure who wants to come and ride the bench with the only shot of playing time being if Harper/Doughty/Brown get injured
