I think Auburn gymnastics will be getting a much larger following and attendance will go through the roof during their home games next season.

So glad for her, because of her challenges too. These kids seem to have tough life situations don't they?

That's fantastic. Good for her.

I thought this was good insight from former US Olympian, Domonique Moceanu

LINK

For those that don't have access to twitter, she shows a video of herself basically landing on her head on the balance beam in a competition, I think in the 96 Olympics and said...

"I was 14 y/o w/ a tibial stress fracture, left alone w/ no cervical spine exam after this fall. I competed in the Olympic floor final minutes later.

@Simone_Biles decision demonstrates that we have a say in our own health—“a say” I NEVER felt I had as an Olympian."

Then goes on to say...

"In our sport, we essentially dive into a pool w/ no water. When you lose your ability to find the ground—which appears to be part of @Simone_Biles decision—-the consequences can be catastrophic. She made the right decision for the team & herself."

Really hope Auburn does what it takes to accommodate her.

She has this window to make life changing money touring, appearances, TV etc. Hopefully we let her do the Cam Newton "remote / occasional appearance" academic program

My wife loves gymnastics and going, I thought at first it was going to be slog.

They really aren't bad and don't mind going.

What a dumbass

Yes you are.

She simply decided not to compete, the press I read said she wasn't sure of being able to compete without injury, so she bowed out.

I'm guess you would have gone on to give a subpar performance instead of saying hey guys it's up to you.

I think Auburn should kick the President out of that house and put her in.

By the time the endorsements roll in ...She'll be making far more money than him.....

I must have read it differently. I read she quit because of "mental issues". Because she didnt think it was fair.

If she was injured, she was injured. Agree she should not compete.

You know a big thing with NIL that most don't know is that in the past olympic athletes couldn't be college athletes making money for themselves from their Olympic career, but now they can. This opens the door for many of these other sports that are traditionally olympic in nature to now have a great college experience with their sport

There were some quotes that came out shortly after that were saying she said that, and while she may have said that, I understand it. Either way, she eventually came out and said she's having an issue with the "twisties."

Not sure why it's called that, but if she goes off a vault doing what she does at the level of difficulty she does and loses her perception of where she is in the air, she could very easily injure herself very badly. Not to mention that it hurts the team when she can't perform.

And I think that can be a mental issue. There's a serious loss of confidence when that happens and she starts doubting herself, which is 100% mental. For someone like her who's dedicated most of her life at this point to competing at the highest level, that's got to be devastating to sit this out, which I'm sure is extremely hard to deal with mentally.

Just to be clear - if Nike/Wheaties comes and offers Suni $1mm in endorsements, shes still perfectly free to compete at AU, right?

Yes as it is for her likeness & accomplishments...shouldn't affect her eligibility
