Don't we have 3 guys out right now at WR?

Definitely Capers and Jackson were stated to be out.

I think JJ Evans got hurt in practice, but have not heard the extent (heard he had a ice pack on his knee)..

Other than injuries, I just didn't know what poster meant by hurting at WR if he was talking about something other than current injuries...

Yes, insiders and people close to the program. Fans hyping up a player does nothing to pique my interest after Frazier and JJ. I barely give a shite what an "insider" has to say as well since they don't really exist in Auburn's case.

Well, the argument that corchjay was making is that there is a group that think D Davis will beat out Bo. He never said Coaches or insiders or anything of that sort. Therefor, I dock you one point for your anecdotal argument....LOL

Wow lol. Does anyone with a brain believe that? I mean I’m sure people will call for it every game but that happens every season. Even when NM was QB.

Yes. There actually are quite a few around the interwebs that believe that. I don't think it is such praise for Davis as it is cautious of Bo Nix improving and the new staff not being bound to him so much. I personally do not see it, but I have seen the argument made many times.

And some are posting about the Walkon in comparing HS stats and completion rates. So until it is announced who is starting, it is just an opinion on the forums...I think people are concerned about Nix and the fundamentals which this has been said here for two past seasons, not planting etc...so excited that we have a true QB coach or two on the staff that have actually produced some good QBs at other programs. Can't wait to see how the new D shapes up. Still have concerns about the QB due to our line but that is another topic...

Its stupid because regardless of whether or not Bo Nix improves, a 5'10 true freshman is still highly improbable to be a better option. Hence why it would be a complete shock if anyone other than Nix is starting this season.

Also, they're already talking up Nix as if he's the clear leader. Which shouldn't be a surprise because once again, he is in fact the best option on the roster.

The fact he’s bulked up like 10 lbs already has me thinking the previous staff wanted him to stay smaller for speed. Curious to see how much of a step he loses.

He never said it was just fans either did he? He said it’s everywhere which could include insiders and others close to the program correct? So my post in fact is fine. You get minus one point taken away for thinking you had a gotcha, and another minus one for white knighting for CJ...LOL

Oh, and another docked point for leaving the “e” off of “therefore”.

By the way, let’s let the argument die already now that the thread is back on track. People forget on here I have said several times most of what I do is mess around in fun and admittedly I tend to gravitate towards the serious ones. Not to be mean but to see if someone can laugh about it and at themselves, or get pissed. I mean no harm but I can and have pushed too far. I think we have a diverse group of posters here and most are chill, cool people. When one comes along that takes themselves too seriously then I take it as a challenge to push some buttons. CJ will be just fine and so will you.

To show you I have a heart I will not dock a point for leaving the e off of therefore because your adrenaline was pumping to show that a-hole Rocky guy.

There are some good things popping up from spring camp so let’s stick with that. Cool?

It wont make him any better. His problem has not been power. He lacks vision

He basically runs into defenders. I think Shivers is and will be what he has been. Very few running backs make huge strides in vision. They either have it or they dont

DJ Williams is another example

I will agree. Although he will be a nice break for Tank.

Yep. I don’t think we’ve ever really used him properly. I don’t really know if it is a vision problem or a patience problem with him, or maybe a combination of the two. Maybe a new scheme will help some.

Good to see him bulk up some though. If he can be a good change of pace back when he comes in for Tank, he can have a successful year.

This and if you listen to Bobo's press conference, the comments he made about the QB tell me this:

1. He likes Bo bc he is athletic and most experienced and will pick up the offense the most quickly.
2. His comments on Davis tell me he thinks he is a long way from fighting for the top QB spot bc he simply has so much to learn mentally for that position. Bobo did say he has a strong arm and nice throwing motion. Also mentioned he is built really strong to handle hits if he runs.

In the end, Bobo seemed to hesitate in finding enough positive info for Davis to place him in the QB competition(Remember, he should still be in HS right now).

With the info we have, it doesn't make sense to think DAvis will take over the QB position before the end of the year...

Shivers has plenty of power straight ahead. Something makes him really vulnerable East-West, though. Always thought it was a balance issue

Good point.

And too...after watching him run during games, he is great plowing through DBs one on one, but when running thru gaps between the tackles meeting DL and LBs, he tends to get stopped more easily. He has what they call 'stiff hips', which makes him more of N/S runner, and as you pointed out.. much less effective E/W bc he takes him a little time to cut back upfield.

I appreciate him sticking it out, when he could have left too like all the other RBs so in a sense I hope he fits better into Harsin's offense of 'Power and running downfield'.

I did see a lot of 3-4 from the defense.

Considering the weight gain of the DT’s noted in the player-measurement thread, this doesn’t surprise me.

Yep, you can see the plan is to be bigger and stronger (what a concept) and dominate the trenches. The weight gains are significant. some 3-4 makes sense.
