That sucks. He was pushing for some serious time, maybe even as a starter.

My impression is that the defense looks good.

And I base this on his language around describing the two units. The defense was “flying to the ball”. The offense needs work “getting the right play call to the field”

Derek Mason is in the zone and he knows this defense is going to put him back in the P5 as a HC soon

But not on a permanent basis, right?

I just got the impression they might use him on occasion, depending on a situation.

I’ve read they’re going to give him a look but he’s also still going to remain on offense, too.

I think defense is what he would excel more at. He’s so athletic.

Pegues should get a look if for no other reason than covering our bases and doing due diligence early on.

Apparently Wright was playing like a stud before the injury.

Corch Jay,

Looks like JaVarrius Johnson is getting some love. Running with the ones in the slot and may be kick returning. Good for him!

This should be a permanent switch. He can still play O occasionally in short yardage situations.

His pro potential is at DT, there aren't many 6'2" 300 lbs FB/HB/TEs in the NFL. This should be an easy sell to Pegues.

I have to agree. He would likely be our most athletic DT since Nick Fairley, and arguably more athletic than him.

We’ll see if it can translate to him being a star.

There was another fella, played tight end in high school, put on a good bit of weight in college and became a DT. Six foot 2, 300 lbs, I believe his name was Warren Sapp.

There are no starting TEs that are that size in the NFL....there is a hall of famer who converted from TE though.

We have so many TEs on the roster we have to kick them out of the way just so we can see the field. We could however use a very quick DT.

I agree, its spring, at least check the box and put him over there.

I agree.

Pegues is young enough too(only a soph) to make that switch. If he wants to play in the NFL, Defense may be his best opportunity.

Staff may be thinking they need him to contribute somewhere and they definitely feel good now w how their TEs are looking with Frazier, Deal, and even hearing good things about Fromm.

Shaking my head how good our TE group is looking. Never would have thunk it. Have to thank OC Morris for getting this good group of TEs to Auburn.
