Thank God we already found a QB, Beck looks like a penis with ears. Using all his NIL money to buy a lambo, then declare for the NFL after the season he had, and elbow surgery says it all about his decision making skills

He's probably better than anyone we have ready but he is bipolar playing sometimes. Definitely not worth what he would cost.

Better pray that Arnold isn’t a bust, unless you think Deuce will be ready to step in next season if he is. It’s quite the gamble Freeze is taking. Let’s see how it plays out.

but I'd take him for sure.

I’d honestly rather take my chances with Jackson Arnold. He is at least an RPO guy. Plus, Beck is a gigantic douche

not really. Nobody ever mentions it................SMU has real money.

quote:

On Sept. 1, SMU accepted an invitation to join the ACC alongside Stanford and Cal, beginning next season. As part of that agreement, sources familiar with the arrangement said SMU will forgo nine years of ACC television money, around $24 million per year.

SMU boosters told The Athletic they plan to give more than $200 million to offset the absent TV money.

This $100 million was raised by a small group of 30 donors, according to the school.

quote:

One of the people at the forefront of SMU's fundraising efforts is David B. Miller. Miller, the chairman of SMU's board of trustees, is a billionaire who founded an oil and gas private equity firm called EnCap. His name is also on SMU's basketball court — just one of the few perks of being a billionaire.

"It's a couple hundred million dollars," Miller told Yahoo Sports. "I'm not losing sleep over it."

No doubt, the Pony Express was the real deal back before the death penalty and is coming back to life with the NIL/portal era in a very legitimate way.

I was just saying “weird” after all signs pointed to AU last week and seemed that an announcement was imminent. They will be relevant in this current space because of all that money. Lashlee is in a good spot right now and should think long/hard about making a move should he be approached

Good.

Not getting M’Ba helps rid ourselves of all traces of the Harsin era.

Two months ago I didn’t think Deuce could play this year, but after the Ms/AL ALL STAR game I’ve shifted my opinion on that.

Who would you prefer he go after? Have you seen the QBs that entered the portal this cycle?

I was fine with signing Arnold, but he hasn’t proven anything. That’s why I felt Freeze needed to get another QB (not Daniels, a QB that actually would compete for QB1) to go along with him. Give yourself a better chance of one of them working out.

I get the sentiment but it seems no QB in the portal wants to compete. They pretty much want to be QB1 if they commit.

ETA: we need to tamper with 28 on ND. Dude has made 2 great special teams plays on punts as a gunner. Lighting the returner up as soon as he catches the ball.

So what would you do? What would be your budget for the QB room? Genuinely curious

According to Caldwell (who is the best of the AU guys IMO) he left Auburn committed and gave them quotes, but it looks like SMU ended up offering him a better deal and Auburn wasn’t going to go above what they thought he was worth.

totally agree. Dude a lambo? seriously? put that money to work for you rather than buying material things...that way you retire early and enjoy life.

I don't think he will be long in the NFL if he makes it.

Well we better tell Coleman, Crawford and Darrion Smith to get their tails in the weight room, we gonna need them early and often.

He's more concerned about how he looks playing the game. The horrible arm sleeve tats, face paint all over his face like it exploded, one legged tights, arm sleeve, just too many things he's concerned about on top of playing
