Bob Chesney instantly flipped the script at UCLA, Cignetti instantly flipped the script at freaking Indiana, Eric Morris flipped the script instantly at Oklahoma State, and Auburn is the same pile of crap it has been for years. Frustrating is a severe understatement, you can clearly see what can be done in the portal era, somehow Auburn can’t figure it out.

When was the last time we beat Georgia in Athens?

How many years did that take?

What’s your point?

A bowl game and a winning record isn’t enough for you? When was the last time we did that?

Not sure what you expected us to be this season

What makes you think we can beat one of State, Arkansas or Alabama?

Samford is a given, sure, but this team is bipolar as frick and has given up 38 and 45 in back to back games since Xavier Atkins was kicked off.

The offense has no identity, play calling is sporadic and the offensive line lacks any kind of talent. The defensive line isn’t SEC caliber and the secondary gets cooked like the secondary did in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

We also appear to lack quality coaching and the team isn’t getting better like they should. If anything, they’re getting worse.

I’m concerned that this staff thought the talent they brought in was SEC quality.

Well we needed an entire roster flip and break in a new coach. We only has a kicker and a DC to build on.

We had to take what we could get and stay within our limit. You fill the holes and upgrade as you can. Auburn didn't have sec level talent begging to come here and the ones that would were probably too much as a whole to pay for.

This was a rebuilding year no matter who we hired or kept or didn't.

Is UCLA in a “rebuilding” year?

we just played 4 consecutive games against teams better than anyone UCLA has played all year

granted, the last two kicked the shite out of us, but they would likely have gone winless against them

i’m as disappointed in our apparent lack of improvement this far, but i didn’t have unrealistic expectations coming in so as far as I’m concerned we’re playing with house money

win 3 of our last 4 games and we’re right where i thought we’d be

From what I know they realize that it wasn't for the most part. They were screwed when they got here. I expect the eval's etc will be much better this portal cycle.

The only big miss is Byrum and I don't even think he is that bad.

It’s like you didn’t even read his post or think one second about the current state of CFB.

There is zero reason to accept “make a shitty bowl game” as the standard of success for a first year coach. There’s also zero reason to accept losing 45-15 to Ole Miss or getting blown out at home just because it’s year one.

Programs are no longer built with recruiting classes that take 2-3 years to materialize.

If a coach can’t figure out how to make us competitive in year one, then they probably aren’t going to figure it out any other year.

And anyway, it’s not like his HS recruiting class is all that great. And he thought a roster of G5 players was a good idea.

So what makes you think the script is going to flip with Golesh?

I think Smufy hit the nail on the head.

JLee and the boys have spoken on this often. The portal was so close and you dont even have enough time to properly value, not evaluate, but value the current roster to see if their price tag is worth keeping. You know you have to replace the entire Oline and Jay Crawford is wanting a million dollars, Coleman at least two million, what do you do?

And when you do look to the portal, many of the ones you want are already poached before the portal opened.

There is a great interview with Andrew Warsaw, our football GM and he touched on the situation. He said they inherited a roster with some good players, then he saw the pricetag and structure of the NIL deals and said we wont be able to keep these guys.

Sounds like with HS guys they want multi year deals with a carrot at the end if they perform. And portal as Smufy said, watching well before it opens.

It obviously contributes to it. You don’t lose a player of his caliber and it not hurt the team.

Golesh is a tard that put all his eggs in the basket on a QB that throws like Faucci.

We should have hired BMFP

Do you think the O-linemen and the DBs we brought in have been good? I don’t but I admittedly don’t know squat about football.

They have both been dogshit.

Let players like Jay Crawford and Kayin Lee transfer and bring in cheap players and this is what you get.
