The IU and UCLA comparisons are silly. We play a much tougher schedule and not close. However, UK is real. UK has a good OLine and well coached on the O side of the ball, still lost to bama by 4 scored and got USC and LSU and perfect times.
I do want to see improvement on the OLine and secondary going forward tho. We have to beat Arky and it would be nice if it wasn’t a last sec FG
Going 4-5 in 1st yr, beating UGA will be very positive. However lose to Arky and Moo State and it turns negative quickly.

When I look around the conference I see the names of former AU players that are making significant contributions to their new teams … and it makes me wonder why so many. Do we have a recruiting problem, or a retention problem?
I also wonder if the system of offense we run limits our ability to acquire certain talent at certain positions. One of the things I think Georgia has done right is to build their offensive identity as a pipeline to the NFL by running similar systems. They don’t seem to have a retention problem to me, especially along the LoS.

I wonder as well. I do have a little hope that AG will evolve the offense.
At this very moment, my standards are low and I want them to do whatever they need to do to have a fun, exciting, and watchable offense.
To their credit, I think we have all seen guys running open (sometimes with the potential to score).

Like who? By and large, the players of ours that have gone elsewhere have done almost nothing. Kayin Lee has performed well for Tennessee. Crawford has been hurt some this year, but he hasn't done a ton for Ole Miss outside the Texas game. Fields had a good game against us but otherwise has been fine but nothing special. Woodyard has done okay at Mizzou. It speaks more to our talent issue, but the overwhelming majority of guys that leave us aren't doing anything for their other teams either. The Qbs that have left have done okay, but we also wouldn't have had the patience for any of them to actually develop and even looking at Brown, he is averaging 170 yards per game, its not like he is really being asked to do a whole lot.

We miss Lee, Crawford, Fields, Ashton, Blocton, Amaris, Connor Lew, Woodward, Chaplin, and the list can keep going on.

Ashton has done well and hindsight would have definitely preferred keep him and use some of Brown's NIL on OL instead.
Hasn't done anything at LSU. He has 13 tackles. I think we won that trade getting Sigler as his replacement.
Hurt so not really fair to include him in any analysis on the other poster's claim.
He didn't transfer, he went to the NFL
Has he actually been good at all at FSU? Not saying we couldn't have used more OL, but the claim was that players have left here and are doing well elsewhere. I think he's been pretty meh at best for them too, but we can include him in the list of players that left and are doing well elsewhere if we want. Ours have been awful but I think him and Ramil have graded fairly similarly. Though at this point i'd obviously take him over Strand or Simmons 10 times out of 10.
I mean, outside of the guys that I had already mentioned, not really a strong list of guys leaving here and actually going on to do anything of note elsewhere, which is kind of the point. Nobody is saying that there aren't players we wish and/or should have kept, but there has not been a large amount of guys that left and are actually doing much for their new teams outside of a small handful of guys and the ones that have been doing well were already known products. If a guy leaves here and hasn't been doing much, he isn't doing much at his new destination either.

He doesn't start at LSU. He could've not start at Auburn.

He went NFL because we moneyballed him.

Ive seen him play. He would be an instant upgrade.

We are devoid of talent and discipline getting arse blasted multiple games in a row. Every ounce of flesh extracted has dealt us a team of zombies.

My concern is AG thought guys who couldn't win the AAC would translate to the SEC.

I think he's smart enough to know the talent gap. He gambled on bringing culture/continuity with him. It hasn't paid off, but I see the strategy.

Golesh said in the preseason over and over that talent isn't the issue.
His recruiting class isnt wowing anybody.
I dont know if he is okay with mailing it in or not.

That is an assumption. If he didn't actually want to go to the NFL, then why didn't he just transfer elsewhere if we were "moneyballing" him? Its not like he couldn't have found a big paycheck at a school like Miami (where he was already committed to at one point in time as a HS recruit), LSU, etc.
The whole "we forced him to go to the NFL" theory makes even less sense when you consider that he got hurt last season with a knee injury. A guy in that situation has even less need to bolt to the NFL, when he can just go elsewhere as a transfer if we in fact were not willing to pay him.

It was reported his family requested second round NFL money or something.
