It's nowhere near that high. If it was I wouldn't have posted this thread asking for prayers.

you are very uninformed

Prayers for your mother. Glad to read she seems to be on the road to recovery.

Prayers lifted up. Any idea of where she may have contracted it?

We sent my 82 y/o mom off to our lake house last week because my office had not been given permission to work from home yet (we were all sent home the next day). We sent her with two weeks of groceries and told her to lock herself in and not even let the neighbors come to visit.

When she needs groceries we will get them, and then take them and drop them outside the door and she can come out and get them after we leave.

I’ve sorta alluded to this with mine and they just change the subject. They’re not 82 but they aren’t young anymore

That sounds like great news E. Good to hear bud.

My wife works at a hospital here in north Georgia. They are going to start doing the 15 min test on every employee every so often. They are screening them now but the blood test will start soon

There is some rumors that once they start the blood testing, they may be quarantined at the hospital for a undisclosed amount of time.

If that happens, I am going to be one lonely, drunk, unhappy son of a bitch

I don't know how old your mother is and maybe her percentage was a little higher but overall the fatality rate is .5 at the very most and that's a high estimate. I'm also certainly not saying you shouldn't have been asking for prayers for her.

That said, glad to hear your mother is doing well.

This is based on what, your guess? There is no clear evidence at this time to support such a claim. Additionally, health outcomes for critical cases of this virus appear to be highly dependant on proper healthcare (e.g ventilators) which may not be available.

The good news is that people of all ages have recovered. Praying that Es mom is out of the woods. After having to raise E, she deserves good things in life

Fwiw, heard on npr this afternoon that there is no clear evidence ventilators are actually saving lives.... this type of pneumonia caused by covid-19 is brutal.

Ventilators are literally life support. The bodies are too weak to survive on their own.

No doubt they’re extending life... just a whole lot of prolonging the inevitable

ETA.. listen for yourself.

Ventilators give all patients on the equipment a slim chance to return to some kind of normalcy.. Doesn’t always work out, but it’s still better than not having a chance at all. That’s why if there is 20 patients that need them there should be 20 ventilators. Otherwise doctors have to play God and decide who has the best chance.

I’m not arguing with you... they’re just not this silver bullet fix... up to 80% of patients on vents still die, and it exposes patients to other forms of infections.

Pleas don’t. My wife has worked very closely with ventilators in OR and ER settings for a decade now and you’d be barking up the wrong tree. Life support isn’t meant to be a silver bullet fix. It’s meant to allow the patient to breathe without the body killing itself. It simply provides a CHANCE. Without ventilators 100% of the patients die. Is that better than 80? You can’t treat them with non invasive ventilation.

Yeah Vents just breathe for you. There is a chance they can give your body time to recover, but the odds still aren't good. If it comes down to it i'd tell them I want whatever trial drug they have before I go on the vent.

I appreciate the well wishes for my mom but as for the rest of your post & the other post you look like a total dick & you are completely disrespecting everyone that has had to deal with this, dead & recovered alike. This is some serious arse shite man. Stop trying to fricking minimalize it.

No offense man, but you really did just pull this number out of thin air. This thread is also just not the time or place.
