Just spoke to a guy that played under Clark. He said hes a very ultra disciplined person. He said he holds his players and coaches to a very high standard. He said he almost comes off as an a-hole but the players love him. He said jokingly that his personality is similar to saban. Treats it like a business.

Some people, like me, will be skeptical because Clark and Brown are names tossed around by old-school AU people forever. Not to be an arse, but some of our older fans don't look very far beyond Alabama when it comes to stuff like this, and it just reeks of "JABA" to me.

That said, Clark very well may be a viable option for a major job so I'm trying not to be too biased against him.

I would be good with anyone other than Kiffin. Clark was a suggestion because of his record as a head coach. I dont think he would request a huge salary either. I'm good with day, aranda, frohm, venables, etc.

I don't think it will ever happen. There are way to many traditionalist inside the program coupled with a new AD.

Are there any top-notch small school HCs or big school coordinators who are Notre Dame alum?

(Of course, our last HC hire from Notre Dame was a disaster.)

I think we're putting way too much weight on Clark because of him being in Alabama. If he were at an out-of-state school of a similar football caliber as UAB, we wouldn't think twice about him.

This kind of remind me of how we only hired Malzahn because he was the OC here w/ Chizik. Had it not been for that, I doubt we would've hired him.

I want Aranda to be our next HC. I wanted him to be our DC before we hired Steele.

I think Kiffin has the most realistic chances of the named candidates to coach AU to a SECCG / CFP.

I also think Kiffin easily has the best chance of causing a nationally embarrassing scandal at AU

Not sure what Kiffin can do though that will be more embarrassing than a $30+mil buyout for a coach only 1 season into his contract

We are already the national laughing stock with paying Gus $6.7 million dollars a year for nothing. Along with the 75% guarantee on his contract to look like a total mess on the field.

We sign Kiffin and we can state going after top quality quarterbacks like Tua. Tua would have never landed at Bama if it wasn't for Lane revamping that offense.

I don't think that's true. If he was at UTEP and doing what he is doing at UAB under the same scenario of taking a hiatus from football as a program, he'd be a very hot commodity right now. I think his situation has actually hurt his national recognition.

Lane Kiffin made Jalen Hurts the SEC offensive player of the year his freshman year, Lane leaves and Jalen regressed to the point that he lost his starting job. I'm on board with Lane, deal with it.

There is absolutely no way you can seriously suggest that the following blind coaching resume would be considered a "hot commodity" by programs like Auburn

Coach XYZ 19-12 FBS , 11-4 FCS

- FBS Experience HC/Coordinator/Asst: 7 Yr
- P5 HC Experience: 0YR
- P5 Coordinator Experience: 0YR
- P5 Assistant Experience: 0YR
- Demonstrated Recruiting: No

Exactly. Clark is a 8-9 win coach in conference USA add him to the long list of names like Skip Holtz, Stockhill, Jay Hopson, Seth Litrell

Auburn people just bring up Clark because he coached at Prattville.

You do know Clark and UAB are currently 5-1 in the same conference as FAU who is 3-3?

Let's just conveniently ignore that FAU has played two top 10 teams

Because Bill Clark is just racking up wins against quality opponents

I've got nothing against Bill Clark, he just isn't a top tier quality candidate at this time

If Gus gets fired and it looks remotely close that we may hire him, I will.

To any Athletics Dept. lurkers, you better do your homework about him.

I tend to agree, but I think the same of Kiffin. He's been overrated at times and now is probably underrated primarily due to controversy but he's definitely not a top tier candidate.
