Have y'all had cool nighttime temps? That might be delaying them. Peppers are so slow to grow. Then they just take off. ...

I've planted Perkins Long the past 2 years. Pick between 3-5" long. I like it because it can get a little longer than most and stay tender. I also grew Alabama Red a few years ago--a short variety that you can't let get over 3" long if even that. ...

I like to pick at him a little bit. His garden is what mine would look like if I weren't lazy.
cukes...have never had a problem with transplanting them.
Me either, fortunately. ...
cgrand
I was doing a search on loquats and noticed you have some. I've ordered two and wanted to ask what's the best place to plant them? I read in the shade to start but would full sun be okay if that's the only place I have to plant them?...

I wish people weren't so afraid of snakes. Even the poisonous ones, if you leave them alone, they'll move along. I could understand if it posed an immediate threat (in the yard w/ kids/pet nearby) but I hate when they're needlessly killed. Educate those gals on the awesomeness of the king snake....

I had a raised bed for carrots but since I'm inept at growing them, I put in 15 strawberry plants. My niece had been asking me to plant some anyway. Between her and her brother, I'll be lucky to get to eat one....

Use a seeding mixture to get your seeds going first, then you can re-pot them when they get bigger. When I first started out, I was using Miracle Gro potting soil and my seedlings grew painfully slow. Since I started using the soil mix for seeding, they easily germinate and I can add fertilizer when...

May? The old timer rule of thumb around here is "plant after Easter". But every time I wait for the "right time", it rains and I'm delayed by a week or more. I'm just gonna go for it. If something bad happens, I'll go to the co-op & buy replacement heirlooms....
