If you are looking for his coaching qualities, he has learned the program building side from Saban. His QB development and O is a strength. If it were me, I would have a set down with Gus and identify major deficiencies. At that point, just redirect some resources to meet those. Completely hitting the reset button seems exhausting.

I don't think it will ever happen. There are way to many traditionalist inside the program coupled with a new AD. Think of the most vanilla hire you can think of and that's probably who'll we'll shoot for.

IMO Kiffin is the safest hire out there right now.
The TL;DR version of the argument
- Kiffin always viewed as brilliant X's O's coach
- Kiffin has proven he can innovate/adapt his offenses to changes in the game
- Kiffin has outperformed reasonable expectations at his CFB HC jobs
- Kiffin has experience seeing how a great program is run under Saban
- Kiffin at only 43 already has a decade of experience to learn from
- Kiffin can recruit

Plus Kiffin has learned under Pete Carroll. That would be a pipeline for Auburn players going into the NFL and will help recruiting.

I think Kiffin has the most realistic chances of the named candidates to coach AU to a SECCG / CFP.
I also think Kiffin easily has the best chance of causing a nationally embarrassing scandal at AU
Not sure what Kiffin can do though that will be more embarrassing than a $30+mil buyout for a coach only 1 season into his contract

That has been my stance. The Kiff is talented. However, be will be sniffing cocaine out of a Co-eds crack.

Steven Pearl is in his 30s and AU fans don't have a problem with it
I mean, Bret Bielema was Kiffin's age when he met his wife who was just out of college too

I didn't say I was against it. However, it is a reality, and we have a bible thumper component to our fan base.

Probably both. High Risk/high reward or bust

Yep. He'd be my first choice probably, and I never thought I'd say that. I'll guarantee however there will be vocal boosters against it due to his "lack of morals and being a good christian man". It is crap but it will be something that comes into play. As a football coach, realistically he is probably the best we can get.
If not him, i've said multiple times I'd try and snatch Day up before he goes somewhere. I think he will be a good one.

I think Kiffin would walk a straight line. I mean he went from Tenn, USC, and Raiders HC to OC whipping boy and now coach at FAU. Given the opportunity to be a HC again in the SEC he'd probably act right. He'll always have a personality and funny 1 liners like Spurrier. Not everyone is a robot like Malzahn

I’d rather have Bill Clark, and that’s excluding off the field stuff

Kiffin and Clark are totally different, but I would be fine with either.

Coaching was not the only reason he didn't coach in the NC for Bama. Let's just say he wore out his welcome in Tuscaloosa.
I really don't want to air out the guy's dirty laundry, but he will never coach at Auburn or likely any major program again.

That component of our fan base can EAD. I'm so tired of Auburn playing the morally superior card only to get stomped out by the conference every 3-4 years.

I dont think its playing a morally superior card as much as does Auburn want a shite stain in their proverbial undies if the guy is caught banging sorority girls wearing a wig and fake mustache. Its probably a matter of time before it happens a FAU
In the grand scheme of things they will get who they get.....I don't think it's Kiffin

I 100% agree with you
If I woke up with Clark as our coach tomorrow I'd be interested and supportive, but it seems very much like a Gus hire to me.
Right now the most appealing possibility to me that seems realistic is Aranda. Partly, that's just because hiring him out from under Ed O in a year where LSU can't make any move because of Ed O's current success seems DESTINED to work/haunt LSU.
