For me, Pete is still tbe best at development and play calling. Those two factors are the ultimate criteria is it not? Last night wasn’t his best game, but there is a reason why he’s known for being a big game coach.
Ok

I love how you excluded Peterson winning percentage at Boise, and the fact that he has coached at far inferior programs to Auburn.

Pete's option call on 3rd down was really bad.

I did not exclude anything. He has been a head coach longer than Malzahn so I listed the data for the current coaching teams which is exactly the same amount of time and very comparable. I did not list Boise which was 10 years ago or Arkansas State for Gus. Those two programs and situations do not compare to Washington and Auburn in any way.

Maybe but he was not running the ball in on us like he was doing so he had to try something. I think this was more of a terrible execution than anything. And the fact that Nick Coe totally wrecked shite on that play.

They're better off throwing the fade and taking 3 pts if the fade doesn't work. Bad play call and poor execution. Gus haters never see other coach's deficiencies. They're boy bmfp looked bad last night too. They'll never fully support gus

I was not impressed. I believe he was thinking an outside run would give the back better odds of success. His OL was garbage though so the best play call should’ve been a quick strike. He should definitely teach his WRs how to properly sell a pick play.

In case you need a reminder
"He has proven he can coach offense with the best of them and can whip the big boys asses. He can also recruit his arse off. "

Malzahn worries me because when we lose we lay a egg, we seem to never lose a hard fought close game. We just come out flat a couple of games a year, last year we were flat against Clemson, Mercer, SECCG, UCF, and 2nd half LSU game. On paper we should handle UW but when you factor in Gus and the dome I have no idea how this game will end up.

I’ve seen too many failed HB dives up the middle for me to know Gus isn’t going to adapt his playbook to his personnel any more. He was constantly ramming small and ineffective Martin into the A gap and only once did Martin break through. Gus would’ve been the guy that tried to slam Gaskin into Dontavious Russel 15 times a game while wondering why Dontavious wouldn’t break. Gus is screaming at halftime that “we have to be able to run the ball while “I’m saying we have to adapt the gameplan!” Early on, we were chewing up yards with the intermediate passing game against their great secondary in the middle of the field, but it’s like we reverted back to our shell. We cannot do that against teams like Washington with a good secondary because our OL isn’t going to blow up holes. If we are too timid to throw it deep like we were today, we have to generate other ways to move the ball and to keep defenders on their heels.
I also made several posts endorsing Peterson over Gus which was just as much obvious then than it is today.
