He made the CFP at Washington. That is an incredible accomplishment given what that program was for decades

I wouldn't want him as HC at Auburn, but I respect what he has done. He is a really good coach and I'll recognize it

Well, Washington is a pretty good program. Since 1990, Washington has 208 wins and 149 losses for a 58.3% win percentage.

Since 1990, we have 238 wins and 120 losses for a 66.5% win percentage.

In the last 10 years (after the 4 BRUTAL years with Tyrone Willingham), Washington is 82 and 50 (62%) and we are 86 and 46 (65%).

But I do respect Petersen as a coach, and he has elevated Washington to their best 3 seasons since 1992.

I really question how his Mormonism would play in the South and in particular with recruiting.

I was in the same boat questioning if he was a Scientologist or Mormon, always read those rumor.

And it looks like I misunderstood this portion of the article.

When I asked Leach about it this week, he was initially taken aback, not aware it had gone public. It apparently harkens back to Leach’s Mormon upbringing, where bishops hold a leadership position in the church.

“How did you get that?” he said, before elaborating: “He’s just a real clean-cut looking guy. He has a stately air. There’s several other guys in our conference of Mormon background, and we agree if there’s a bishop in the conference, it would be him.”

So Petersen is not Mormon, and I could not find any articles stating he is a Scientologist. So my question is void.

But it looks like Leach is Mormon.

Way to sneak the end of Don James
successful run + CPs own work at UW.

Between Don James/CP tenures, UW had only 3 seasons of 9+ Wins, 1 10+ Win season

Between Dye/Gus tenures, AU had 11 9+ win seasons, 5 10+ win seasons

In the 20 years before (94-2013)Petersen they went 130-123-1 for a win% of 51.1%

Even if you cut out Bowdens skewing early success, from 1995-2012 AU went 147-78 win% 65%

That's a huge Fing difference

So what does those 2 turnovers for Washington (1 fumble - 1 interception) mean in a 5 point game
Not a road we should go down in this type of discussion. We would then have to bring up our games agains LSU, Vols and Miss St. All were winnable if the players didnt make shitty mistakes.

Certainly your majesty - guess bringing up the only game those two have met (ever) is completely out of bounds (in a thread that's only about them)?

It was I agree. Though the Pac12 was really down then and they did get run out of the stadium in the playoffs when they got there. Im not saying he is not a good coach or that he has not done well at Washington compared to their past. The idea of this thread is "
If we had Peterson and UW had Malzahn". People were tying to make us believe that we would be much better off. I just dont believe that and the reason is because he still has not really had any big wins at Washington or accomplished anything outside the Pac12.

Gus had some very big moments as well and you would have to decide if you think Peterson would have won the big games Gus has won.

I know he is a good coach but in all, Id still rather have Gus, his ability to do the big things and his recruiting ability.

What would Auburn’s record be if we played UW schedule?

Who knows? It would only be a guess but Id like to think it would be better than it was in the SEC. And Im not sure Washington could have won the SEC this year so Im not ready to applaud them for winning a very weak conference with 3 losses and basically losing the big games they played other than Washington St.

But once again, this is about how good we would have been with Peterson and I dont see us being any better with him.

Good Lord, you are insane. Peterson is a top 5 coach in the entire country. I'm not even sure GusShortBus is top 5 in his division. Paterson would not be losing to Kirby, Eddie O, Moorehead, and damn sure not Pruitt.

Glad to see Lanier is back until about game 4 of next season and then he will disappear again.

Only because miserable dumb fricks like you totally ruin the board for people that want to talk football or just generally enjoy the discussions here. Has nothing to do with my beliefs. I have never veered from them.

But carry on with your contributions.

Your hero is a failure and you disappeared for his annual meltdown and now you're back because he scored a lot of points against a 6-6 Big 10 team.

But carry on with your childish insults.

Oh, in that case GusShortBus >>> Saban since he lost the IB last year.

Come on. GusShortBus barely squeaked by with home field advantage (Atlanta) and a roster full of 4* and 5* (while Peterson has mostly 3*).

Don’t take a decent discussion and turn it to crap. I can go either way you want.

Your just making shite up now. I could care less about the bowl game and said so many times. If you are not at least smart enough to insult me correctly, why not just go the way Of your bros and adopt a shortbusgus line to keep everyone laughing.
