What if we don't necessarily expect to win some games, but to at least look competent and be able to throw for more than 56 yards or maybe threaten to score an offensive touchdown? Is that ridiculous

Goddamit Randy, stop making me agree with you.

He's right which is why I am not overly pissed. It would be different if he was recruiting like Harsin and everything seemed to be falling apart.

There’s 2 ways to look at this in my opinion you’re paid to coach up the players you do have and replace with more talent. I understand he wants patience and I will give him that. It’s Tim to turn the corner some on this season. Starting WRs running around still not understanding the basis of the offense isn’t good. Freeze seems very pissed about that. And you got to make a call on the QB and ride or die. Cause what we are doing isn’t working. OL is gonna be what they are this season. Maybe they get a hair better as the season goes on but these are very experienced players probably at their limit in talent.

I will never be happy with losing but I will give him patience as he seems to be asking for. But ‘25 season no excuses time to be competing with every team on the schedule. Then a reasonable expectation would be make the playoffs every 3rd year going forward. Almost want to say every other year but that’s pretty steep even with 12 teams

I mean somewhat. I get it’s early and everything but there are certain things you want to see even early.

We couldve lost by the same score but looked somewhat competent on offense. Everybody would pretty much be happy. Auburn fans are just tired of not completing forward passes.

I just don't want to go down 13 3 with 25 minutes left in the game and know we have no chance to win

I think if freeze is winning 9-10 games a year at year 3 he will be fine. 2 solid recruiting classes under his belt and hopefully has his staff sorted out the way he needs it.

I get that but part of having a mediocre roster is sometimes you’re just gonna show up and get your arse whipped. There will be a couple more like that this year but I expect the trend to be up over the course of the season

I agree with Freezus here to an extent, hell, my expectations were probably too high.

But when the offense puts out what they put out recently, it's hard not to get grumpy. We want a competent offense which we haven't had in a while.

The road to 8 wins is still there, but we gotta get our QB and OL situation figured out. Fast.

We should’ve hired Deion.

Most I talked to thought our ceiling was 9 wins, with 7-8 being probable. I don’t think those are unrealistic expectations for fans to have. My expectations were this to be a 2009 type season. We would still be limited by talent, but I expected a team that was fun to watch. I expected an offense that kept us competitive and was fun to watch again.

Fans aren’t upset that we aren’t SECCG caliber already. They are upset we look completely inept.

But first year coaches at Auburn are supposed to run the table and play for national titles. Everyone knows this.

Auburn Football has made it that way! Terry Bowden went 11-0 in his first year. Chizik went 14-0 in his second year Gus went to NCG in his first year. None of them really built anything though. Just had a flash of success. I’m willing to be patient. It just isn’t that fun being patient.

Pat dye and Tuberville each went 5-6. Saban 7-6 at Bama and lost to LaMo. Shula beat LaMo by 30 the year before.

We are a broken program right now. Have been for a few years. Its going to take more than a few baptisms to get us back together.

The program inside is broken, the fans are broken and the recruiting is broken. For some reason, we can not recruit certain positions. Those guys just dont want to risk their futures at Auburn. That has to change

Until then, its going to be what we are now.

Freeze took over a program down on talent. We all knew that. One portal class isn't going to change that. It will take four solid years of recruiting to get us back where we can go toe-to-toe with anybody in the nation............which is where we want to be.

Yea, I think relying on the portal is a bandaid but eventually, we are going to have to develop some high school talent that can play multiple years. If not, we start every season in the exact same place as the previous season

Just have to bite the pillow and take it for a few seasons to get to a point where we need to be

Unfortunately for Auburn, and I said this in defense of Gus, our rivals just happen to be at the top of the college football world every year. Atleast 3 of them. So there is a big hill to climb

True & True. It will take some time. Remember the portal are people who aren't starring at their old program usually. There are those nuggets but remember everyone has a hole they want to fill, even if it is depth. This is gonna take time and time to get the right QBs yeah multiple so we have competent backups in the program. Could we have looked better with a better QB but realistically we didn't have a chance at the top ones in the portal this year so we got what we got.

With all of the money that UGA has had available and one of the deepest talent bases in the nation (with little in-state competition for it - sorry Tech fans), Kirby's recent success is less a testament to what he's done and more of an indictment on his predecessors' modest success/lack of success for ~ 40 years.
