I’m not sold on Nix being a SEC caliber QB, after 2 years he should have showed something by now to prove he belongs.

He needs to go find someone else and let the quarterback position be up for grabs. Nix hasn’t shown me anything and please don’t mention the talent around him. The talent or lack of talent has nothing to do with his terrible mechanics.

Former 4* QB’s currently in the portal:

Jake Bentley
Ryan Hilinski
Jarret Guarantano
Chris Robison
Jawon Pass
Jace Ruder
Lance LeGendre
Grant Tisdale
Hendon Hooker

Of these guys, Hilinski is a West Coast native but was recruited by Boise State. Pass is a native of Columbus, GA. Bentley is a name we all know as well having played 1 year at Opelika when his dad was on staff at AU.

Guarantano is a no thanks. Don’t know enough about the others.

So you want Bo to leave now and this is the Qbs you think would be better.

Do you even Jason Campbell bro?

Hilinski is the only one that I think is even comparable to Nix. The rest are hard passes for me.

How the heck did you get that from my post?

And I think it’s completely logical that we find a 2nd QB for a few reasons.
1. Challenge Bo and push him.
2. Emergency need. Loy isn’t coming back and Cord Sandberg isn’t a QB. Garnett is an unknown and Davis will be a freshman

I was replying the general conversation and just happened to reply to your posting. Yet the list is very bad. They were all worse train wrecks then Bo.

I agree it would be nice to pick up some competition for Bo in the Spring but I also think he may need to be able to free his mind up and be able to take in the coaching.

I remember Pass being high on Auburn's list when he was coming out of high school but I don't know enough about Harsin's offense to say what he needs. I think Nix will only be good enough to be SEC caliber when we have a line that doesn't have him looking over his shoulder a split second after he touches the ball. There were times where he would get hands on him before he could take a step.

I mean if we are just overreacting to the loss to NW.

Bo passed for almost 300 yards. Was at 60% completion percentage and had 1 TD an 0 INT.

We rushed for 61 yards. And Bo was again running for his life on about a 3rd of his passes.

Bo has a lot of improving to do but he's far from horrible just needs a chance to sit in the pocket and have some time.

I think Harsin can coach Bo up to be a little better, but I'm afraid Bo is very near his ceiling as a college QB.

Anyways, get through next year with Bo and be decent (9-3/8-4 maybe) and make the Freshman from TX work his arse off and let him take over for '22. I think he's gonna be really good. Davis put on a show in the 6A TX state title game in front of nearly 50,000 people a few weeks ago.

I think Harsin might even have a full on QB competition in fall camp between Bo and Davis. If he doesn't like either, then maybe hit the portal, but I haven't seen anyone in there outside of Hillinski that would be worth taking a shot on. Hillinski is even a reach imo.

All of this is assuming Tank is back. That is his biggest job right now. Keeping Tank on campus and filling out the rest of the '21 class. Then he can start evaluating QBs.

I’d take Nix over any of the names that I know on that last.
I don’t think anybody really knows what we have with Nix right now, but I think he’ll get a shot at the very least. Davis is coming next year as well.

Bo has some MAJOR mechanical issues going on. I’m not talking small, hyper technical things. I’m talking major issues that anyone can see. He’s been getting by on arm talent and scrambling. Can these issues be fixed? I’m not sure. You have to believe that they’ve been working with him over the last two years.

How do we know those weren't coached in. Stidham same escape on the run, drifting out of the pocket, Nick was the same way but was able to throw the deep ball on the run plus had a dominate run game. White didn't but he took an absolute beating. Seems to be recurring theme with all the recent Qbs. Only one that stood in the pocket was Cam but he rarely got pressure on him that OL was really good.

Uhh....Why was my comment deleted? It was the 3rd comment in the thread.

Nothing I said was bad.

It was along the lines of-

I hope Harsin can fix Bo, but the more I see him play, the more I'm losing hope.

Suck it mods.

I hope your right. However, I’m talking about fundamental things like setting your feet to throw. Bo doesn’t do that on all his throws. It’s REALLY hard to throw the ball without both feet planted or when back pedaling.

I have no idea how good Bo can be.

But I know that Gus had no ability to help him improve.

Gus ruined every QB we ever had.

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.

The only good years were Cam (1 season) and Marshall’s first year.

But as fans, we yell at Stidham and Jeremy Johnson for standing in the pocket and taking sacks and we yell at S. White and Bo Nix for scrambling.

It frustrates me to see so much commentary from people who refuse to see obvious patterns.
