Sorry but it’s not acceptable and no one should be ok with that.

No one thinks it's acceptable nor are they okay with it. That being said, forgiveness is a powerful thing. You don't cut a family member out when they frick up once. You pick them up, help them get better, and keep a closer eye on them.

So AU has a major university building named after Bobby Lowder's family and flash the "Yellafella" ads at every major sporting event.....

but this, this is where we draw the line?

The parents are getting a lot of blame here. Their mistake was trusting Chuck Person. He was a long-time friend and assured them everything was ok. The hate should be focused solely on Person. He is the one that screwed over everyone. The Wiley family never wanted anything bad for Auburn.

I agree with a lot of that, but let's not give Vicki Orr a complete pass. She was a former player herself. They knew they were doing something shady that was wrong, or incredibly close to crossing the line.

Yea, I get your love for the family and long time players but it is that very thing that makes me say what I have. They are no newbies. They are experienced in what is legal and not. Im sure they didnt want anything bad to happen but who ever does?

They absolutely know how wrong taking money is no matter who it is coming from. Yes, Chuck is a POS but its their duty to do the right thing and not put the university at risk. Thats exactly what they did.

If you guys cant see how wrong that is and the risk they put the entire program in, there is no need to carry on any further. We are not talking a pair of shoes or a jump suit, we are talking 10K in cash. $$

How are you going to feel in a month or so when the NCAA comes back and says Auburn will not be eligible for the NCAA Tournament, thinking that we make it, because him and his family took the money? This after all the years of not making it, we would be on probation AGAIN

At some point you have to stop letting people off the hook and give them a slap on the wrist because they didnt want something bad to happen. They put too many people at risk who would not deserve to be at risk

Vicky Orr was a college athlete. So was Aubrey Wiley....he is also a college bball coach. They both knew what they were doing was wrong. Let's not act like they are ignorant or naive about paying recruits and/or their families.

I wouldn't consider a years suspension and repayment a slap on the wrist.

Ditto. Especially for a guy who was supposed to be in the NBA after this season making millions having his platform to do so being taken away. Plenty of punishment for the wrongdoing at hand.

Didn’t Alabama have an ex football player doing the same shite. Don’t remember any problems from the NCAA there.

The NCAA can bust any team on any day and they never touch the sacred. They lived at Ole Miss over rumors and the fact Ole Miss got so many good recruits. Yet, Bama gets #1 recruits every year and the NCAA hasn’t even blinked.

It’s total bullshite. Pearl is a winner and the only way to stop him is the fricking NCAA. They will do it. Mark it down

Pearl is fine.. you just need to buckle up for the best ride in Auburn basketball history.. If Pearl can recruit as well as he has up to this point, which I think he can, we should have sustainable success for the foreseeable future.

They also had the Jetgate scandal Plus Rane is caught up in a major ethics investigation in the political realm. That's before you jump into Lowders power politics running of the BoT + subsequent damage to university

People are saying to scrub Person/Orr from the Auvurn history books. Just stupid. Just people who made a mistake

Are you kidding??? Person made one of the most selfish decisions he could have made and brought two young men down with him. All for money while he was making plenty of it at Auburn.

I hate retired numbers and that includes football. Leave the honor, but bring back 7,34,88 and do not retire 2.

Many legal analyst have come out and suggested the FBI is stretching the law on this investigation. I won't go so far as to question the integrity of the FBI. I wouldn't want to be the type of person that is viewed in such a light.

One thing that seems clear is that most of these athletes and families didn't have a clue that it might be illegal. I certainly know they all knew it was against the rules.

Even if you buy the legal argument, this applies only for schools/coaches, not for players
