Wiley eligible for 2018-19 season
January 11, 2018 6:13pm
Auburn men’s basketball student-athlete Austin Wiley will not be eligible for competition until the 2018-19 season following an NCAA reinstatement decision. After an internal investigation, Auburn self-reported violations involving recruiting, extra benefits and agent-related activity.
Auburn can appeal this NCAA staff decision to the Division I Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement. The decision is based on currently available information from the school, applies only to the individual eligibility of Wiley and does not impact any future infractions action. In addition, the outcome of this decision can be modified if additional or different facts warrant additional review.
When a school discovers NCAA rules violations have occurred, it must declare the involved student-athlete ineligible and may request reinstatement for competition. NCAA staff reviews each reinstatement request on a case-by-case basis. At this time, Wiley’s reinstatement request is the only one the NCAA has received from Auburn.

I hope he stays, but he was already being projected as a fringe 1st rounder before the season.

With the kinda summer he had, he’s gone.

He took 10k. I am not sure 1 year is that excessive. AJ Green took 2k and lost 1/4 of his season years ago.
Based on the rules...I have never understood why if you break a rule of amatuerism you can be reinstated.
Found it interesting Auburn self-reported recruiting violations. We were led to believe it was all agent related.

I imagine that they don't submit a request unless they have an acceptable arrangement from NCAA
Wouldn't be shocked if Wiley was first to set the precedent because he seemingly had a better case

And again the NCAA find a way to screw us over in basketball. At this point I expect Pearl to be gone after the season and us to go back to the basement. No inside info just par for the course for AUBB.

If that is true, he should be gone.

Yeah. The fact that they're letting him back at all blows my mind

AU gained no competitive advantage from the money... 15 games should have been plenty (and paying back the funds).

I'm just glad the NCAA decided to rule on this halfway through the year
