Auburn 28, Baylor 21.

I do wonder if Baylor's coach is being dishonest in stating last year he had 18 players that could run 21 mph and this year the team has 60 players that can run 21 mph. Does Baylor only have defensive backs, receivers and running backs and they all have elite speed. Tennessee is also claiming they have 47 players that can run 21mph.

I did an AI search on how many Auburn University football players can run 21 mph and it couldn't answer other than former track athlete and football player Anthony Swartz could run over 21 mph and current player Rayshawn Pleasant ran 20.9 mph.

Does Baylor have some elite speed advantage like Appalachian State pulled on Michigan?

Auburn 31, Baylor 14
Brown throws for 221 and 2 tuddy's and runs for 54 yards and 1 more.

Baylor scores one non-offensive TD but defense steadies us for a firm win.

Auburn runs the ball and controls the clock, defense solid after first drive jitters until they let a big pass go over their head in the 3rd.

48 - 34 Auburn

Most here will be raising hell about our defense come late saturday night. We will score fast and often but it will come at the expense of our defense.

I like that score, 42 -10 or 42-17.

Remember Lagway rolled into Baton Rouge this time last year and threw 5 ints, one of which was a pick six. And was short arming the throws into triple coverage.

I think Durkin brings em early and often to get him rattled.

And our offense rolls and doesnt stop.

I’ll saw 28-24 auburn… late td by BU to cover.

Baylor defense should be better and Spavital is a good OC… I think they’re improved over last yr.. but so should we.

Not really expecting a total turn around for either team.
that part

actually thinking this will likely resemble the 2013 opener vs Wazzou in terms of ultimate outcome, i dont see either team coming out great guns offensively

but frankly, none of us really have a clue what to expect, which is why the score predictions are all over the place

What's everyone's biggest concern this year? Mine currently is how well our offensive line holds up, there is a lot of ORs on the depth chart for RG/LG

frankly, our OL is the only thing that has tempered my expectations for the season

i feel like our defense will be solid, and we have skill players on offense that can hurt our opponents - ST is still somewhat questionable but it showed flashes of competence even under Freezus

but if the OL isnt up to snuff, our record will likely not improve significantly

Just reading the opposition report. Looks like it’ll be a battle of a mix of G6 transfers:

Baylor:

LT Logan Moore from UAB,
LG Nate Kibble from Texas,
RG Asher Hale - South Alabama
RT Cole Rhett from Toledo.

Auburn
LT - Simmons - James Madison
LG - Skinner - USF
C - Best - USF
RG - Oregon St.
RT - Ramil Mich. State

Apparently the threw the bag at revamping their entire DL so we’ll see how our guys hold up.

Seeing some high scores predicted for Baylor. If they get >20 on our defense I’ll be concerned.

I hope the 3rd time is a charm with the tempo thing. I’m not a huge fan of that as a strategy but then again maybe he uses it differently given the way the game has changed. Drago is way more organized than anyone we’ve had in a long time, and maybe ever. Fingers crossed.

Tempo still works when you aren't substituting a bunch, which generally we won't sub mid-drive a ton unless necessary.

Problem with Gus's tempo after the rule changes was he had so many things that were package specific for certain players, so we would have to substitute a ton still, forcing the ref to hold the ball for the defense to sub. I wouldn't say we every truly ran tempo with Hugh. On occasion, but nothing reguarly.

We stumble early and allow a TD, only to come back and score often. They try to make it respectable in the 4th, but only the jaded AU fans feel threatened.

The Washington game was actually 2018. We beat Oregon and Justin Herbert to begin 2019, which was Bo Nix's debut.
