So what is everyones confidence level that we end up hiring Lane or Prime? They are our top 2 candidates..

What is your confidence level in Auburns ability to land one of its top 2 candidates?

I think he would do great for recruiting and pulling in players right away but he is an unknown when it comes to coaching at a big program.

I think he would pull us players to get going but if he doesn't stack his staff with ex-sec and proven assistants or I don't want to gamble with him.

You telling me a coach at kentucky can just "clown" it up bc there are lowered expectations?

Are you seriously comparing the Auburn basketball coaching position to the Kentucky basketball coaching position?

Your inability to understand the difference in expectations is strange.

Very high it is one of these 2.

Cohen could really help both his alma mater and Auburn with the Kiffin hire.

Interesting we get an AD from Mississippi St (even though he is from Alabama) and both of these candidates are over there in MS.

I’m thinking if Lane beats Bama then Auburn will walk from him as we cannot afford to wait until he is done with the SEC Championship game if he makes it.

Prime has lots going for him to get the job I believe.

1) Cohen is a baseball guy so I could see them having plenty in common there

2) His support from the people that really matter is growing exponentially.

3) He can hit the ground running pretty quickly as his season is almost done

4) I don’t think Auburn would have to “break the bank” to get Prime

5) We need a competent QB BADLY and that will certainly appeal to he and his son.

I'm so snake bit from our past coaching hire shenanigans that I'll believe it when I see it.
Our new AD gives me some hope though. If he can get the chemistry right between the influential Auburn people and sell the right guy for the job this could be very good for Auburn.
Still, I'll believe it when I see it.

Naw, just think we'd be right back here in 2-3 years witha Deion hire

At worst it doesn’t work out, but we have a boat load of talent for the next coach to work with. I’d still make Lane say no, but Deion makes us relevant again. Both are important but talent trumps coaching

Hiring a SWAC coach with 3 years total college coaching experience is a huge risk. And I’m not sure how Sanders’ gimmickry and bells and whistles would work at Auburn.

Big no go for me on Deon. He’s a multi-millionaire who doesn’t “need” this job who knows how he’ll respond if he starts losing games. Who knows how hard he’ll work the recruiting trail. Dude could be set for life by just doing TV deals that’s what scares me most. While most coaches make million they don’t have their fame and tv deals to fall back on. They literally have to coach their asses off to keep their status. That’s what scares me about deon

Yes, next question.

How could you not be super excited about the idea of Deion fricking Sanders being Auburn’s HC?

FIFY.

Kids aren't sticking around anymore at any program. I could see the divorce between AU & Deion being ungood. I could see many of the "5 stars" Deion surely would bring in, leaving in short order.

You could see that and you could be imagining shite.

NIL can easily put a stop to recruits leaving.

We haven’t even got the guy yet and you’re fearmongering a nasty split. You’re a weirdo

Pointing out very obvious flaws in an argument isn't fearmongering. Could Deion be a great coach one day? Maybe. Is there anything beyond noise that points to his success in the coaching world? I haven't seen it. I've only seen a couple of recruits sold on an HBCU. I keep seeing "elite" staff he'd build. Is that the staff he's with now? Not sure I'd count that as "elite."

I've hired lots of folks in a very specialized career field. Some guys you'd love to drink a beer with, but their qualifications aren't quite there yet. I can't risk the failure. I do give them advice on how to make themselves the guy for the next opening but adding to their experience & qualifications.

Deion needs more coaching experience. There's no debate. We have just as big of a chance of getting struck by the lightning as catching that lightning in a bottle. Too big of a gamble if I'm the guy in the seat, writing the check.

I've been called many things in my life, might be the first time called a weirdo. Thanks.

Can’t get Deion because he will do great and then go to mama free shoes U. Don’t forget that insecurity either.

That’s like refusing to win the lottery because of the tax bill.

Nope. There's someone that's a splash hire with a better resume.

Take this shite to the money board bro. I don’t care.

You’re pointing out there could be a nasty split without regard to NIL as if Deion is some elevated risk for the split being nasty. Big Dumb!

I don't thing anyone knows how the NIL will affect the transfer portal. From what I've seen so far, it doesn't that much.
