He promotes his self. He's good at that.

Nailed that. But is he a highly respect football coach?

his man has barely coached at all and I can guarantee you that Nick Saban would be AFRAID to be recruiting against him.
Most hilarious thing I'll read in a long time! Saban can flash rings, tout his 3 Heisman players, and show a recruit how many HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS his former players have made in the NFL. Saban can also point out that his OCs and DCs were some of the best in the business.

I think Lane may have been slyly talking about himself. Just another way of saying I slayed the transfer market in Ole Miss think what I could do in Auburn, but who knows.

Remember: people that are condescending and converse his way are usually speaking into a mirror so chances are HE is the one in Mom’s basement etc.

Fully agree.

Always a method to Lane’s madness.

He has definitely dropped big hints lately that he is looking around for other gigs.

If an introverted boob / high school coaching nerd like Gus can get to a Natty at Auburn then I don’t think Deion will have ANY trouble

Gus had coached under several good coaches BEFORE becoming an HC. Don't act like Gus jumped from high school to college HC like Sanders did.

Gus coached under ZERO “good coaches.”

Sorry it’s condescending, but some of this stuff like Saban being afraid of Deion, sounds like shite millennials living at home would say. It’s like you have become detached from reality or have no clue how the real world works.

Deion Sanders isn't just some random coach who happens to coach at a HBCU. He is one of the most recognizable figures/brands/personalities in all of football. He has held this status for 30+ years now, going back into the 1990's.
So is Bo Jackson and he was involved in the last few coaching searches at Auburn and all we pulled was Chiz, Gus and Harsin so what is your point?
Matt, log out.

What in the actual frick does Bo Jackson helping in a coaching search have to do with Deion Sanders actually coaching?

Some of you people are really lunatics.

Gene Chizik and Houston Dale Nutt aren’t good coaches.

Deion is a flat out storm coming through and will be a game changer somewhere.

Will he beat the best of the best in recruiting battles and on field coaching?

We will surely find this out in the next few years.

No chance he is in the SWAC next season.

About as much as Deion being a celebrity means he can coach at a P5 school.

But his point was how great Bo is at helping pick HCs. He has no clue what to look for in a coach.

Both turned around bad teams. One is still coaching, has two natty rings, (should be three) and I'd love to have him back as a DC. What he was meant to do.

His NC defense this season is horrible. I wonder what is going on there.

And Chizik is a terrible head coach. You and I both know his Natty was a Cam Newton and Nick Fairley anomaly and that Gus TRIED to choke that one away too.

I give Chiz credit, can you imagine how hard it was to keep that team going with all the NCAA stuff happening at the time. That took some leadership. I just can’t understand how he went to rock bottom by 2012.

You won't get a disagreement from me, on that. He tended to micromanage. But there is no doubt, he has a superior defensive mind.

Nick Fairley
No doubt he flicked the switch in his last year, but we don't win out without Josh Bynes. Talk about someone being coached up!

Except that Bo didn't do anything to "pick" any HC's. So his point was extremely stupid and irrelevant.

For the millionth time, those "search committees" that he was a part of were just a rubber-stamp committee. They pick the HC, then they parade out Bo Jackson and company so they can "approve it" which is supposed to legitimize the choice because ITS BO JACKSON!

The fact that any of you still even think that Bo Jackson had anything to do with who was hired at Auburn should delegitimize you from any serious conversation moving forward. Bo Jackson barely even watches college football, how the frick is he supposed to know who he's even evaluating.

So you get to be the arbiter of who can express their opinion?

It’s his first year running a new system with a bunch of player he didn’t recruit. Next question.

Deion Sanders is in the NFL Hall of Fame, dawg. He's in the College Football Hall of Fame. He can tout his two fricking Super Bowl Rings. He literally appears in the commercials alongside and opposite Saban, he has already been marketed as his peer even by TV conditioning.

And guess what, he is respected enough and would be able to hire "some of the best" OC's and DC's too.

You think it's funny and yet I can point you to dozens of quotes from elite 2023 recruits who can't stop talking about him, and he hasn't even left Jackson State yet. He hasn't even taken a P5 job yet. What do you think would happen if he was named Auburn's HC? Pandemonium, that's what.

You also shouldn't discount the advantage he would have when entering the living room of any black or inner city family. The guy played for both the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Braves - the likelihood of a recruit's father from the state of Georgia having fond memories if not idolizing him in the 90's is very high. You have Travis Williams performing as an elite recruiter from day one coming out of coaching HS and he was a barely known football player. Jackson would be like that on steroids.
