He’s not affiliated with Auburn AND he’s black?

Brannigan, when he hears the news:

That's surprising. Hopefully Greene's tenure ends on better terms than UGA's AD that got an DUI (I assume he was the first AA AD hired)

Allen Greene Official Bio

Played a role in two major hires at Buffalo, Lance Leipold for football and Bobby Hurley for basketball.

This seems like a solid, outside the box hire by Leath.

Does David Williams at Vandy not count because his title is chancellor?

Exactly. Hey, I'm willing to take a chance. First AD we've had that has held a job outside Lee County in 25 years. Baby steps!

You clearly don't know shite about college athletics. This guy is widely regarded as a top up and coming AD. You don't rise to AD before age 40 without being legit

- Experience in SEC
- Experience at a top AD in Notre Dame
- Successful at current stop
- Not some BS Auburn BS hire

You aren't going to find many people who check those boxes. Especially not someone age 40, looking to make a splash

You sure as frick aren't able to hire them in the middle of FBI investigation, softball wtf, and football contract of 7/$49mil straddled in your lap

The most important part.

This is why I’m willing to give him a chance.

I wouldn't say that at all. There are very few ADs that are household names, and many of those are known due to their scandals.

While Greene is still a fairly "green" AD, he's done well with fundraising, involving the local businesses and communities with university athletics, and he's well liked at UB.

I think GC mentioned when the search first started that our staff members within the AD are very accomplished at their individual jobs, so Auburn seems like an ideal situation to bring in an young AD.

I am delighted new guy is African American. Diversity is good and many of our athletes are black. Sends a good message. Having said that it’s all about execution. No more scandalous nonsense. And schedule more diverse OOC football games.
