I wonder if you will say this after we play LSU. Very little pass rush and that is playing mostly man coverage.

OL is a problem
We need RB’s
More time at QB
No more injuries (ha)

So what? Cam was the best RB on the team. Marshall was the best RB on the team. Rode those best RBs on the team to NC games.

5. I wish Gatewood would have thrown a pass or two. I am not much of a conspiracy theorist, but............

The game was won, let him sling it a few times. No Im not saying he becomes the starter, but if we continue this nonsense of giving him a few runs when the entire country knows he is going to run, and leave him to be decapitated, he will be Fields 2.0 and rightfully so.

And please dont bring Joiner in for one play, everyone knows its a wheel route.

Daniel Thomas and Tutt are most certainly at least a mid round draft pick. McCreary probably gets drafted too.

Iggy, Tutt, Thomas, Dinson, McCreary and Davis will get opportunity. And I haven’t even gotten to Smoke & Jamien.

A counter argument would be our lack of DL pressure is leaving our CBs on an island. With time, even the best CBs can be beat.

Spot on. We currently rank #82 nationally in sacks. If the pressure doesn't pick up Joe Burrow will pick us apart

We had plenty of chances to get sacks last night, but their QB was elusive, and had a very strong arm. He simply was going to throw it just about every time he was about to be sacked.

That's why he was 10-33, and we didn't register a sack.

But i agree with your assessment that our front 4, which was similar to last year, has power but doesn't seem to have enough quickness to generate wide open pressure.

On another note, is NFL talent a good measuring stick?

Yes, yes it is. Look at the play-off winner every year and compare their NFL talent to everyone else's. It is no coincidence the play-off teams put tons of players into the NFL. Another way of saying it is that it's no wonder that the Bamas and Clemsons (with all that NFL talent) make it to the play-off every year.

CFB is about 5 star recruits. Period. Much more important than coaching itself. Of course, you can argue that recruiting well is part of coaching, and it is. But let's face it, some schools are on easy street with recruiting because of their location (UGA, LSU, USC, Texas). Bama does it with lots of incentive$ for the families.

Oregon was throwing the ball within like 2 seconds or using rolling pockets. They specifically planned their entire offensive game plan around our D-line. And most other teams are going to do the same thing.

I wouldn't read to much into sack stats, especially this early.

Marshall wasn’t the best running back on the team. Especially not in 2013. Don’t be silly.

Well, yeah!

Given the option is what we've seen or a wee small back, I see a benefit in a too large RB. We are a pound the other line into ground system.

If you people think we have NFL talent all over the field at DB then you are kidding yourselves.
Iggy is an elite athlete, not so much db. Davis is trash up to this point. Tutt and MCreary "might" end up developing, but at this point, they're not there.
Smoke and Jamien aren't even starts, so.... ??
Could all of them end up making NFL rosters? Sure,.. but lets not pretend like we have elite DBs to shut down some of the WRs that we are slated to face this year (if they don't improve).

I think everyone here who has watched us play up to this point can agree, that Kam Martin is DEFINITELY not an SEC caliber RB. Boobie can be productive if he learns to hit the hole.
I personally want to see more of Shivers, Joiner, and ESPECIALLY DJ Williams!

“No doubt we have to find another guy. Kam Martin will keep coming on. Shivers got a few carries.”

Is Bo allowed to check out of inside zone after a first down?

Does our passing game have route adjustments at all?

For the life of me, I can’t understand why we have any opinion about our RB play when our guards don’t get ANY push on a running play.

Go back and watch the Tulane film and keep your eye on the guards. They get shoved backwards by players smaller than them every time.

On one play, 77 gets knocked on his butt by a DB playing the run.

This group has over a hundred starts and can’t create a hole at the point of attack.

I have accepted the fate of this team. If you can’t run in the SEC, you can’t win.

I still believe Bo Nix is good enough to win one more game that we should not and hopefully the bowl game.

Rewatched the 2nd half last night. The Tulane QB was running for his life most of the 2nd half. When he did get a throw off, he was immediately getting crushed.

Our OL is the problem. We can’t zone block to save our lives. Whenever we pulled or trapped, it was better.

Injuries have decimated the WRs.

Red zone play calling and personnel decisions remain questionable.

Serious question… Has anyone seen any evidence that our quarterback is allowed to check out of a play at all, other than the coach speak released about it?

It seems like it is all smoke and mirrors built on a foundation of stubbornness and predictability. When the defense knows what is coming, the kids are set up to fail.

On that screen play, Harrell went to block the CB and got blown up. A freaking 180 lbs. CB! They are weak.

How Grimes has a job is baffling. I would go to elite linemen amd tell them they start day one if they commit. This "we will develop them" angle isn't working.
