Burrow had so much time to throw against us last year (which part of that was their OL not getting called for holding) Maybe Steele can figure something out by then since we play them later in the year compared to the 3rd game in 100 degree heat.

Boobee isn’t a good enough RB to live with those fumbles

Boobee seems invincible. We’ve seen Gus bench guys for games after a fumble. He had 3 and still got 23 carries.

I don’t think he saw the field after the third tho.

But for real boobie needs an extended break. We can’t afford turnovers with our offense sucking this hard.

Go back and watch the Tulane film and keep your eye on the guards. They get shoved backwards by players smaller than them every time.

Yeah they are really bad. Horton particularly. Its glaring on film. Kim at C too. He's getting abused. I cringe when I think if going into Baton Rouge with these guys.

He's one of Tubs 2.0 BBQ boys, and it is going to cost him. Just like the original Tubs.

My biggest observation is of the fan base. This board included. Breaking in a freshman qb and we are 2-0. Defense is disgusting and offense will continue to improve.

The level of bitching and moaning has reached nauseating levels.

I think folks here have been surprisingly patient with Bo Nix. And, aside from one or two people, I think we’re all pretty excited about the defense.

The issue is the things that we’re not breaking in. Which is the RBs and OL. They don’t work, and that’s frustrating to watch and get excited about

Well, I know Gus pulled him after the 2nd and 3rd fumble, bc I didnt see him back in for a couple of series after that..

The problem is, we haven't found or Gus is not comfortable enough w any other back that can do the things Boobie does to be a 3 down back.

Martin is quick, but can't break tackles or block on pass plays.
Shivers doesn't seem to so far provide any relief, and can't seem to get past the LOS.
MMartin is good for some screens or to give the others a breather.
The Fr RBs are injured or nursing nagging injuries keeping them out of game days.
Joiner is the one back that good be enough good to see if he can be what WHitlow is. But the coaches don't seem to want to use him except in small passing plays.

I'm mainly just frustrated with our OL. They are all terrible. Prince was getting shoved around by guys half his size. On one of those delayed, off tackle sweeps, one of our guards pulled and was running down hill towards a lonely linebacker and somehow ended up on his own back? Comical, really.

I’m equally frustrated with our lack of pass rush. We had no sacks against Tulane and only 5 TFL.

Our big four on the DL will contain the run and the secondary will keep us in SEC games but if we don’t get to the QB, our secondary will eventually get picked apart. We like to play man and press at the corner position and well, they can’t cover all damn day.

Watch the second half again. I saw it last night and the Tulane QB was running for his life every pass play. We weren't sacking him, but he got crushed every throw and was hurried constantly.

Ok well we’re 2-0. When we suffer a loss because of those issues, I’ll worry about it.

Contrast your assessment of our team and Nick Saban's assessment of his team when his team won 62-10.

This thread isn't about wins and losses. It's about observations on the level of play on Saturday. If you can't see that we got some gaping holes in our offensive talent and gameplan, then you're not paying attention. That being said, I think there are some things we can do to be competitive. I think Gus sees them too. The one area where we are woefully inadequate in talent is the offensive line. Unfortunately I'm not sure what he or anybody else can do about that other than to recruit better players. Something he has not done in the last 5 years in that position

It would be nice if we could at least utilize Gatewood like the ‘Aints utilize Taysom Hill.

They seamlessly let him come in for packages at QB and others at TE in ways that don’t jeopardize the chemistry of the drive.

^but if we make a first down, keep personnel on the field, and maybe catch them by surprise with an inside zone on a quick count.

No DC in football history would ever see it coming!

Utilize Gatewood near goal Line? Dude, we got Kam Martin running inside.

First off, I was advocating for packages at TE.

I want Joey on the field period. I still think Joey should be the QB but it’s whatever at this point. I’m not going to change Gus’s mind and constant bitching about it on this board isn’t going to change his mind. If Joey isn’t going to be QB he needs to be on the field.
He’s already said he wants to help the team. He needs to be on the field more period
