True. I just assume if he went ahead and committed he's not liking what he's hearing about the draft.
Committing to a school actually gives him more leverage versus going through the draft as an uncommitted prospect. There is no "bonus" to not-committing, it just gives MLB teams more incentive to try to low-ball. Will Taylor, a top dual-sport recruit committed to Clemson actually went ahead and moved into Clemson recently despite the fact that his MLB stock is is up to as high as Top 10-20. He did that because he's going to try to jockey for an above-slot deal off the basis of being a Clemson baseball AND football recruit. He'll likely end up signing with an MLB team, so really, there is no "reason" for him to move into Clemson...but it accomplishes the purpose of signaling to MLB teams that he'll go to college if they don't meet his price.

Makes sense. I don't really follow baseball period, much less college, so I have no idea how it works.

Meta four is correct here. Nothing to add other than I didn’t think he’d pick Bama over Auburn. That being said, I could see him switch it still

The main thing is that he's committing to baseball entirely - you're not "missing" on a kid that doesn't even want to play football. Trying to pitch while also playing OT at the same time is completely incompatible - no serious baseball coach is going to green light a pitcher ballooning up to 300+ pounds. The fact that he's made no effort to gain weight should have already confirmed that his mind was set on baseball, so I guess the "sad part" is he's going to maybe do that at Bama instead of at Auburn.

Told y’all if Bama offered he was gone. Our recruiting sucks arse.
So we put eggs in the basket for Quick and haven’t even contacted Finkley. Makes sense.
And when Perry commits to somewhere besides AU and Finkley goes to Texas we gonna keep saying the chicken littles just are roaming everywhere.
Can’t make chicken salad out of chicken shite.

Metafor like I said put him at DE and let him pitch in college. Doesn’t even burn one of our 11.7 baseball scholarships.
All this talk going Pro stuff is absurd. Yes he throws hard but in my opinion wouldn’t be a top 20ish round pick.

Wait, you thought we were going to recruit a mid 4*? He's about 8 points to high for our liking.

Finkley has been my biggest want in this class for 3 years. Reminds me of Carl Lawson. Maybe a little more motor then Carl just a hair slower top end speed. Finkley could also give you snaps inside as well in a crunch. Negative for both is length but as a college player Carl was great when healthy.

Myles Pollard commits Wednesday. We're in the top 3 along with Oklahoma and Michigan. 3* CB out of Tennessee.

What concerns me is how picky we are being and we don't have shite in either hand at this point.

Our coaches on the recruiting trail.

I don’t think we are being picky I just don’t think we have good recruiters as a whole. Bobo and Friend are good. I expect we will get some OL. We already have our QB. Caddie has shown he’s very average on the trail. Any running back should be climbing over other recruits to play for AU. WR recruiting has been worse then OL considering the amount of 4 stars out there. Eason although a likable guy once players get to know him hasn’t been a recruiter and I suspect will jump to the NFL at the first sold offer. The other coaches on the beat know that. Same can be said for Mason they can even use his own words against him on the trail he said when he got to AU he was wanting to get back to the NFL. C. Will has us in line to get maybe a 40ish ranked WR and possibly a couple in the 70’s range. The rest of the recruiters are just unknown commodities in the southeast.
With all that being said we better win this year. 2 crap classes will not go far at all in year 4 and 5. Doesn’t matter what kind of culture and development comes with these coaches. I like the out of the box hire but you better bring in some salesmen early then bring you old crew with you after getting established some. No expert out there is predicting us to have a top 20 class this year. We didn’t have a top 20 class last year except for Tennessee fricking up and in getting Brooks to prop up the class some.
I will just leave the question here. With 20th ranked classes even if Harsin and crew turn out to be great X’s and O’s Teachers which of the following teams will we beat once much less regularly… LSU, aTm, Bammer, UGA, UF?

This is what happens when you hire a "looks good on paper" coach that doesnt know how to recruit in the SEC
Posted on 7/6/21 at 7:06 am to CorchJay
My hope is once one picks us others follow. If not, I think Harsin will start to hear how unreasonable Auburn fans are.

Just checking in on how recruiting is going...

Then explain the transfer portal success. Or do you believe they know how to recruit transfers, but not HS kids...for some reason? Juxtapose us doing extremely well in the transfer portal vs. Tennessee which lost half their team, and then look at HS recruiting where Tennessee is loading up on low 3-stars while we seemingly "can't get a commit from anyone". We literally cancelled the OV of a WR who was about to commit a few weeks ago. They are, in fact, being selective and this is expected to be a small class. The Emory Floyd kid went to USCar because they put priority on him and we didn't. Some of this is also going to come down to accepting that perhaps they aren't recruiting the players that you want them to recruit.
It's really not going as bad as it "appears", I promise. Lost in the shuffle is that 4* RB Damari Alston is looking more and more likely every day, on top of Riley-Ducker, Story, Pollard, McPherson, etc.
