if Burks was a WR for any of you playing QB you would look his way first every time too.

Is Burks in single coverage?

That is the only read you need

That is what Mike Woods didn't understand.

Mike would have been All-SEC this year if he stayed. Oh well. Hope he enjoyed his season.

If we do keep everyone then it’ll be interesting to see how we split up the carries between Dom, Rocket, Green, KJ and Hornsby. Gotta think Briles will have more packages for Malik after seeing him today.

Shows you how stacked we are with running the ball that a guy like Dubinion may have to redshirt or play WR.

Wish Busta would have come back for his super senior year but when you’re a first team all SEC and lead the nation in interceptions it’s hard to pass up that money potential.

He's a monster as a defensive back. He's a big part of why our defense worked so well. He could take someone out of the game for them

We’re playing in the Sugar Bowl tonight, if Mike stays.

I'm sorry to see Treylon Smith go, he was a solid RB for us and most years he would have easily been our starter all season. We are ridiculously loaded at RB right now though. You can't blame him for wanting to get some more game time in during his last season. Someone is going to get a solid all around back when he joins their program.

It is a weird change of pace to see players leaving the program because we have too much talent at their position and not because we have a brain damaged chimp as HC (hello Bert and Chad).

Hopefully we pick up an experienced LB in the portal.

He had that at the beginning of the year, then we learned KJ was a freight train, and there was no reason to bring in Malik just to run.

I’ve always thought if Malik was in the slot or just a go route he could burn 99% of the people on the field.

Kind of like 2005, when we had De’Arrius Howard but then there was McFadden and Felix waiting as Freshman.

Finding any decent LB in the portal is one of the hardest positions.

Agree 100%.

I wasn't as down on Smith as others are. He was a good change of pace scatback and could Houdini 1 yard runs into 10 yard gains.

He was a very good back for us in 2020 and made losing Rakeem Boyd much more tolerable after he opted out in the middle of the season. His importance to our turnaround cannot be overstated since we basically had nothing behind him until Sanders, Johnson, and Green all simultaneously emerged in 2021.

No he’s talking about Mani Powell. Originally from Michigan but transferred to Fayetteville after committing to us to play his senior year. Unfortunately he got hurt and ended up not playing for them.

Briles’ trick plays irk me to no end, but think of this: KJ at receiver in a bunch formation close. Hornsby takes the snap, pitches to KJ, and then runs a go route. You might only get away with it once, but it would be 6.

He was so fast the Penn state fans around me were confused as to how he wasn't starting. They weren't impressed with KJ, and yes I'm aware he was the MVP they weren't that smart or a good representation of the Penn state fans i met.

In my mind I've been wondering if there has been any talk about moving Malik to WR. Don't know how good his ands are but he has elite speed.

I'm a little concerned with our WR corps next year... Haselwood should be a solid #1 and I'm good with Thompson as a decent #2 but he seems to disappear at times.
really need someone in the group of Crawford, Jackson, White, or someone new to step up and be a solid slot. That's where I could see Hornsby at least having a part time role.

My biggest concern is LB. Got a lot of talented bodies to replace there. There are a couple of decent players in the portal, none are 5 stars but there could be a couple of SEC starters that may fit our scheme.

Incidently RB Dezmon Jackson from Oklahoma State is in the portal as well. I know we are loaded at RB but would love to see an instate kid finish up with the Hogs....
I coached him in HS and he's a great kid but from talking with him last week I feel like he's looking for a place he can be the feature back or at least part of a 1-2 punch for his Super Senor season.

We had malik in the slot one play where he just ran a go. KJ looked elsewhere perhaps he was just a decoy intentionally but on that play he did just what many of us think he would do and ran right by the entire penn state defense anyone who has a chance should go back and watch him on that play if you can. It was eye opening

The staff has praised John David White in spring practice. If he could be anything like Drew Morgan at slot then it can help.

Im betting its one of those situations where they have approached him about it but he wants to play the QB position and said "No thanks." If thats the case, you dont want to tick off the kid to the point that he decides to transfer.

I would like to see them work him in more, but doing that you run the risk of other schools poaching him with lucrative NIL deals. Because he will have his time to shine here if he stays long enough. It's pretty much Catch 22, but ultimately if he can help your team you put him in the game.
