Hogs just offered a LB in the portal from Miami (Ohio) who was the MAC DPoY and a 3rd team All American.

EDIT - he committed to Cincinnati right after I posted the above.

I could see this playing out but I’d be surprised if KJ didn’t leave for the draft early. He’s been very efficient this year and can run the ball well. Can imagine there won’t be some NFL teams calling if he has another year like he did this year

I'll be the first one to admit that I was wrong about KJ, but he's not anywhere close to being an NFL QB. We won because of running, our passing game was awful without Burks. He bailed him out a lot this year. He's gotta improve a lot more before next year to even be on NFL teams radars

Next year if his passing numbers look similar or better than this year he's gone....

Are we talking about the same KJ who just threw for 90 yds in the bowl game?

I love him and all, but he is not leaving early for the NFL.

Yup same guy. He may or may not leave early but it won't be a result of that bowl game with his top target this year.

Plenty of QBs look pedestrian if you give them a bunch of marginal talent at WR...or worse lazy receivers.

Also didn’t hurt that we could bully the shite out of the Penn State line, why throw if we can run for 7+ a pop.

You'd have to ask briles his second quarter strategy there

Who knows, he probably seen a weakness in their secondary. He just didn’t realize without Burks, we were weaker.

Just because a kid isn’t ready doesn’t mean they won’t leave. They all think they’re NFL ready

On that note, it’s also being reported that Montaric Brown has elected to enter the draft.

Scotty Thurman. Also every person I’ve met who played football, all believe they can go be a practice squad member of a team until they are 27+. So they don’t pursue careers and work out non stop.

I think he is a different case. He gave us 4 years. And I believe he had the most picks in the SEC this season. This is as high as he is going to really get.

He had nobody to throw to. Are you really surprised that our 6th year walk on, 6th year 2 star and two 4 star busts that transferred in from other programs didn't ball out?

Also lets not pretend we just went up against a bunch of scrubs. They had opt outs but Penn St is a team with top 10 talent.

KJ will have more to work with next year.

I really hate what the portal is doing to college football but let's be honest. Pittman and company have played it well to this point. We really need some LB's and maybe even another DE. Would think you might also take one more WR if you could get a difference maker but we still have to make some roster room from what I understand. Trey said on DTS yesterday that there could still be 5-6 more leave.

So unless he has 1st round talent at WR we cannot have any passing game?

OC and QB coach need to be canned immediately if so

I’m glad you aren’t making any decisions. Franks didn’t make any passes really to anyone but Burks. I think it’s more how bad the WR depth is. Can you name anyone other than Burks? Warren? Morris? Thompson? All non providers.. and when they did make a catch everyone was ecstatic, because it was such a shock.

We rushed for 364 yards and were in complete control of the game down the stretch. We didn't pass much, especially in the second half, because we didn't have to. If our offense next year is beat them to death with the run, win comfortably, and only pass every now and then somehow, someway, I'll manage to live with myself.

As long as we win, and win comfortably who gives a rat's arse how we do it? Some of you folks would bitch if they hung you with a golden rope.

If we led the SEC in passing people would probably say our run game sucks and we're one dimensional. All year opposing fanbases kept saying KJ can't throw the ball just because we ran it all over most teams and didn't have to pass. But for the most part when we've had to pass we've been above average at it.

KJ still went 14/19 (granted mostly on dump offs) so it's not like he was inaccurate or anything. We didn't really do his stats any favors with so many short passes.

Not based on what I saw. The receivers couldn't get separation on a depleted defense.
I feel like we'll be one dimensional.

Haselwood, Sategna and MBake didn't play in the bowl game.

Any of those could help tremendously next year.

Which is amazing because he couldn’t hit those touch throws earlier in the season. He didn’t gain those until after Georgia at least.
