Obviously not apples to apples with our situation in the SEC. But it gives me a little optimism that talent deficits can be overcome

This is why Georgia will be heavily favored.

TCU shows the benefits of playing in a lesser conference.

Like Muss, Dykes has been an early adaptor to the portal. He cleaned up chodes mess at SMU with the portal. I have no idea about TCU’s roster but I see 14 transfers last year.

I expect the big boys will get the portal figured out at some point and order will be restored.

Reminds me of the success Gus had early with tempo. He was an early adaptor but everyone else caught up quickly and he proved to be a one trick pony.

They had a lot of very close wins this year. Many 4Q comebacks. Michigan played tight and choked. I expect Georgia to demolish TCU in the title game.

TCU is a good example that pretty much any team from a P5 conference can get in the playoff if the ball bounces their way all year. A lot of things could have happened to keep them out. USC and Tenner both shite the bed at the end of the season.

TCUs recruiting was based on converting players under Patterson.

The best athlete at smaller school is going to be playing QB or RB, these guys are not good enough to play the position at the next level but make decent LBs, DBs, and safeties.

Patterson's secret was finding the player swilling to switch positions instead of transferring out.

Too early to tell with dykes, Patterson had basically one terrible year and a couple mediocre years be fore being fired. Dykes could be the next bob stoops or the next Houston nutt. Early success isn't a guarantee to sustainable success.

It takes really good coaching, and a few diamonds in the rough but yes you can absolutely have great seasons with the talent level we recruit at. Just look at TCU this year, Cincinnati last year,Baylor last year, Tulane this year, if you have good coaches, you can have a 9/10 win season or possibly better even without top 10 recruiting classes

Coincidentally none of those schools play in the SEC.

How so? It’s 2023 and people still say this stupid mess.

TCU was the more physical team playing the Big 10 champ yesterday. TCU is going to give UGA all they want, if they don’t win the game.

Conference homerism is the dumbest thing. The SEC and Big Ten are not the end all be all in college football. Outside of Georgia, the SEC was pretty mediocre this season.

Wasn't Sonny's name floating around during the search we ended up hiring Chad in or am I imagining things?

A 5 loss team won the SEC West this season.

A lot of college football fans have inflated ideas of how touch the SEC actually is.

Georgia’s schedule was charmin soft. 10/14 games were played in their home state of Georgia. Their toughest road game was at Starkville. Prior to last night, they played only 3 ranked teams. One of those being LSU who will have a 5 loss season.

TCU, played games against 6 ranked teams prior to last night, with Michigan being their 7th game against a ranked opponent. 2 of those were on the road and yesterdays game was in Arizona.

A 1st round NFL QB makes up for a ton.

It's the same blueprint Oregon used in 2014 to get to the National title game and how Clemson beat more talented teams with Lawrence and Watson. It can be done but takes a true star QB to do it.

The portal also enhanced their overall roster talent, too.

Lucky bounces of the ball, no major injuries, and playing in a lesser conference give us TCU this year. Then playing Michigan with a massive chip on their shoulder with something to prove.

It was the perfect storm of ingredients to accomplish what they have. There’s a reason schools like TCU don’t do what they have year in and year out. Looking back at our history a few better bounces of the ball could have given us some much better seasons.

Don’t think they will at all.

UGA has given up 71 points and over 1,000 yards it’s last two games. TCU will likely score just like Ohio State did. That Michigan defense absolutely shut Ohio State down and TCU moved the ball fairly easily yesterday.

I don’t think I’ve seen Max going in the 1st road on any ‘23 mock drafts.

He is probably a 5-7 round pick.

Something a lot of folks don’t realize about this TCU team is they had their bye week at the start of the season and played 11 consecutive weeks of football. Still ending up 11-1 is pretty amazing and says a lot about their team.
