How is anything about this full retard? It is still 100% true that it took Beard a whopping 2 years to turn Texas fricking Tech into a better team than Arkansas. 2 years. Enough excuses.

So we have to dickride his success at UAB to justify him here in year 7? Where's Arkansas' sweet sixteen?

Ok so when I compare Mike to Beard this season, it's unfair because Mike is at a better program and has been here longer.

If I pick his second year at a mid major school, I'm dickriding. Got it.

Yeah I probably won't be on here celebrating after we lose in the tournament. Will you?

You are doubling down just praying this team isn't in fact back on track and headed to a Sweet 16 or better. You better hope they lose at Mizzou and early in the SECT because if they can get a 5 or 6 seed they might just do that, you'd be really pissed then.

And oh man, if TTU keeps tanking and loses in the first round oh boy...

I'm not praying at all. We won at home. We do it all the time. Now we're going to probably have a decent showing in the SEC tourney depending on matchups then we'll enter the dance and get smashed by the first team we face with guards of similar or larger size that can break a press. Our guards will respond to this by holding onto the ball and completely stagnating our offense. We'll jack up outside shots and take stupid contested layups in traffic until the clock hits 0 and we'll be back here wondering where it all went wrong.

The point is, you don't need to keep up with the constant bashing and hate.

The team is back on track, they're 3rd in the SEC having won 6 of 7 getting hot at the right. They are looking at a possible 5-7 seed and better draw in the tournament, where a possible run would be easier.

You can just get behind the team and leave the MA shite out of it, it's going to be a fun postseason again.

This thread is two weeks old. The only thing constant in this thread is the butthurt from those defending MA with the daily updates on Texas Tech's schedule.

Drewbie - it's nothing personal. You made a thread that kind of blew up in your face (I guess you don't want to admit it but that's fine). It's fun to bump these threads when the hogs are winning. I had the same thing happen to me with my Darius Hall thread.

Please tell me how Beard finishing with a better record than Mike on top of a better Q1 record and an almost guaranteed higher seed in year 2 makes this thread "blow up in my face". I'll wait.

the problem is, Drew was correct in some of what he said at the time... Things change, as is life.

The fact that TT has done this well in season 2, while MA has been here 7 years isn't fake news. We want, and deserve more as a fan base... and I think it is happening with MA.

If not, we shouldn't be surprised with the scheme of the past 7 years. How do we believe next season will be? With our recruiting, will we step back again or continue progress?

I haven't a clue, but with 7 years in, and the facilities, fan support... I hope MA gets it done in amazing fashion.

Hey Drew... how would you feel if we made a sweet 16 or final 4 this year? Wouldn't you be ecstatic like most of us?

As I said coming into this season, zero reason for this team to not make the sweet 16. Mike said it, analysts said it, players said it. This is the best team he's had since he's been here. Period. If his best team in 7 years can't even get to a sweet 16, I'm off the boat for good. We are 100% taking a step back next year because our recruiting is not going to fill the holes we will have next year, especially if/when Gafford declares.

Obviously I want the Hogs to win. Priority #1. If that means addition by subtraction, then I'm all for it. If that means Mike pulling off a miracle and somehow teaching his team how to actually play smart team basketball in the last three weeks of the season, I'll gladly eat the crow.

This thread was mainly made because of the constant sunshine pumping for Mike in the midst of yet another mediocre season. He doesn't need more time. He needs to step the frick up and drill some discipline into our guards.

On the face of it, What he failed to mention is Beard was left a good team assembled by Tubby Smith that was also young. TTU didn't fire him, he left for Memphis.

Little Pitino was thought to be the next huge thing when he took over Tubby's team in Minnesota, are the thoughts still the same today? He's a must have coach, right?

Billy Clyde's best team at Kentucky was Tubby's.

Tubby had UGA a real threat in the SEC when he was there.

There have been plenty of coaches who were thought to be the next big thing when coaching good rosters left behind to them, we've hired 2 of them (Heath-Kent State, Pel-Heath's team). The real test is when a coach has to assemble a roster on his own and maintain or improve the level of success at a program.

Of course something else that no-one considers when touting the next up and comer is the level of recruiting he did at his low-mid major. Not that he signed talented players, rather if he signed talented players who could also qualify at the P5 level... some coaches have not been able to do so which is why they remain at mid-major where basketball is the top dog at the school...

With the University being in Fayetteville and the state university being located in Jonesboro, while the state agricultural school was located in Russelville, a void was created that needed filled for quality education one could commute to in the central part of the state.
