The problem with getting better OL is that rarely you get them from the portal.

That is a harder position of development and it takes time unlike other positions.

There's an old saying: Offensive Linemen are built... Not made.

Pittman is years behind already in OLine development. OL is also by far the hardest portal prospect to land because eveyone wants them and there aren't many of them on the market.

At best, Sam will be able to win 5-6 games next year. It's not going to be pretty because he's not going to be able to learn how to be a good in game coach.

I know you are still fully on board with where the program is headed, so I’ll ask you, at what point would you be ready to move on from the Pittman experience? Another year like the last? 2 more years? At what point would you cut the cord?

If he’s fired, I wouldn’t care
If he isn’t fired, I wouldn’t care

I can see the rationale behind both, that being said as stands now I think he should get another crack at getting a better fit at OC and improving the OL. If he fails at that I’ll be more firmly in the fire him camp.

I've been a hardcore fan my entire life. My parents had season tickets when Quinn Grovey was QB.

I'm officially checked out until they give me some reason to check back in. Being completely noncompetitive isn't fun and I would rather spend my Saturdays doing things I enjoy.

I think next year we will see that a lot of people share my opinion unless there is some sort of miracle turnaround.

It is easy to want to fire Pittman but he should be given a chance to succeed or fail.

Arkansas needs to go back to the expectations that if you have back to back losing seasons then a coach should be fired.

His chances of getting fired are high next year which means the buyout is cut in half.

Giving him another year will silence some critics that Arkansas didn't give him more time. Five years shows Arkansas is patient and will give any coach enough time unlike some schools who are very impatient.

Who even cares anymore? IDGAF what they do. I'll watch if it's convenient, but until we can put a competitive team on the field, it's a waste of my time.

You can go back to those expectations. No other program in the SEC has those except Vandy.

Do you think these guys care if a school is impatient? With these massive buyouts some are probably hoping to get fired. The lump sum they get is more than most would make in 4 years of coaching.

plus all the assistant coaches which puts it about $20-$25 mil plus having to hire a new HC and entire staff.

Aren’t most the assistants on a year to year?

Except OC/Dc?

I know I will be downvoted into oblivion for this, but I still like the fella and hope he succeeds against most odds. Daggumit!

Everyone kind of likes him.

The problem is it will divide this fan base just like Houston Nutt did. No one like Chad Morris, no one like Bobby (but you respected him) which made it easier to get rid of those two.

Not giving Pittman credit and assuming outcomes isn’t a good thing.

well duh! Dude, you have been a hater for Ar Football for years. I get the point, most do.

But, he is a hell of a salesman to be here still and have Nil go up, get a great OL immediately following this mess. And we have hired too many terrible coaches the past few years, got rid of them quickly.

I don't know a decent coach who would take the risk to his rep, or his agents to advice stepping in to this crap show with the above. Let it ride one more season to see what occurs at least. I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

No one is giving credit for losing, maybe adding context, but not credit.

Without context, a coach with a losing season would always be fired. The people in charge understand the losses in their context so a coach is either fired or retained based on that.

I'd love for you to enlighten us all on the "context" of losing to MSU at home and scoring 3 points.

Or any of the rest of the pathetic losses we've experienced this season.

The context for most of us is its year 4. A coach is almost always fired for going 4-8 in year 4 especially in the SEC.

I’m not trying to add context to those bad losses, they sucked. Best I can do is make guesses as to why they happened.

Firing him because of those bad losses would be understandable, though I wouldn’t necessarily agree with it. Like I said, as of now I lean more towards letting him have another crack at getting a better fit at OC and improving the OL, then making a decision on his job status based on the outcome.
