I know they wanted him gone until he went on a run this year.

They are about to extend him though, and next year he loses all his seniors. Just like Sam did after a win season.

Sam Pittman just said they're going to have the 'NIL' they need to boost the roster this upcoming offseason. #wps

I'm guessing the boosters kicked in the millions to hire somebody decent as OC and rebuild the roster.

We shall see......

Landed Keyshawn Blackstock, one of the top ranked JUCO lineman last year from the portal shortly before this was said.

It's cheaper to find and spend a few mil for players from the transfer portal and a new OC vs. the $16 mil for Pittman plus all the assistant coaches which puts it about $20-$25 mil plus having to hire a new HC and entire staff.

I went back and watched his presser.

Something evidently happened this week because he was asked about him saying he thinks he will have the NIL money to rebuild the roster, and if something happened this week to make him say that.

His response was

No, well yes, but I don't want to talk about it yet. Then he looks at Hunter and said, "I kind of blew that didn't I" Everybody laughs and he responds, answer is no and i'll leave it at that right now.

If the OL gets fixed and we hire a good fit at OC, but we still don’t improve with Pittman, he should be fired.

But everyone knows we’d be much better if those two things are fixed, it’s the uncertainty that fans are worried about. Their doubt is warranted because he blundered the last OC hire and the OL shouldn’t be an issue under a career OL coach, unless the majority of the offensive issues have been due to the talent on the OL. Which might be fixed this offseason with NIL. Just about any OC would look good with a good OL.

tldr - fix the OL and Pittman saves his job

I just watched the presser and I can very much relate with his shaking his head, looking at Hy!

Dude wants to talk about it, but about screwed it up. Nil has evidently been fixed a bit.

I know I will be downvoted into oblivion for this, but I still like the fella and hope he succeeds against most odds. Daggumit!

It was pretty funny, and its funny because I would have done the same thing.

As would I man. When he turns around the 2nd time a looks over at I guess HY, and shakes his head and say something under his breath like... "Gawsh Dangit"!

I laughed out loud. I am sure something is going to be announced soon, right? I mean, it has to be to settle the restless injuns a bit.

But man, we should have a NIL for the common everyday fans to support as well, and advertised much better than what I have seen. Fwiw!

If this is the deal that HY made then I hope it helps, but he better dramatically improve his staff overall (including the defensive support staff).

Getting a good OC is going to very difficult for a lame duck HC.

We need some recievers that can sperate too. People look at the Oline which was bad but our recievers struggled to get separation a lot this year.

Love how we're all saying that basically the entire team that Pittman built over the last 4 years is shite.

And now we're going to let him do it all over again.

Rock solid.

The more Pittman talks the less I like his answers. I kinda want to know what he can do personally to make us do better

I mean if we fix the O line, find an upgrade at wr and qb and Pittman learns how to manage a game and we don’t lose ground anywhere else we just might be an average sec team.

Best post I’ve seen in a while.

Just a year and few great practices away.

Things of that nature.

The problem with getting better OL is that rarely you get them from the portal.

That is a harder position of development and it takes time unlike other positions.

Those issues need addressed, but we lost 5 games by a touchdown or less this year, lost to bama @ bama by 3 points, some of you think we need a complete team makeover to make a difference.

I realize I might as well be replying to a brick wall during this time of temper tantrum.
