I thought the 2004 Iron Bowl was going to be a blood bath. Fortunately we played pretty well and made it a game.

There have been almost no games that I have been positive we were going to lose.

Even in the years where our team was terrible and had terrible records (1997, 2000, 2003, etc.) We rarely got blown out and were actually very competitive in most of the losses.

I knew we would likely lose a lot of games in the bad years but there were almost none that I was positive.

06 LSU game. I knew Bama had no chance in that game. They did play very hard and kept it respectable.

Yep and that's exactly the phenomenon I'm talking about.

In my lifetime Alabama football has gotten blown out far far less than just about every other program, it's remarkable really.

Even in years where the team isn't any good and it's clear we are grossly outmatched on paper we still usually has a way of playing the game pretty close.

Good question. Can't think of any I was positive we would lose. I remember being pretty sure we would lose the Independence Bowl after Shula was fired just because of the turmoil.

I don't know about being "certain" we would lose, but only one time in my life have I actually wanted us to lose:

2006 Iron Bowl

I knew losing that game would result in Shula being fired and I had confidence that a coaching change was our only path to being better.

Yep 2017 Iron Bowl

Also was sure we would lose the Kick 6 game although I never imagined how that would end.

the last time I was pretty sure we would lose was last year's Iron Bowl. I would have said we have only about a 1 out of three shot of winning that game.

the last time I was certain we would lose was 2007 LSU game. it ended up being close but we had no real hope to beat a team that good.

During the dubose 3-8 season. I’d turn the tv or radio on and just do other stuff, no hope we’d win at all. Shula’s last year was almost as depressing, but I kept thinking that This week they’ll put it together. But during the dubose death season there was zero hope.

Last year’s Iron Bowl. It’s why I won the prediction contest.

Never.

Been plenty that I thought or were pretty sure we'd lose, but none that I was certain we would lose.

Last time I probably thought we had a >50% chance of losing was the 2008 SECCG.

Our last game vs Ohio State. I never feel good facing good teams with no passing real passing threat.

a lot of votes for last year's Auburn game. Even with the depleted linebacker corps I think Tua at qb we'd have beaten them.
