UA group wants ‘Dixie’ out of Alabama fight song ...

I mean, isn't "Dixie" just a way of referencing the South? This is like demanding that libraries stop carrying A Confederacy of Dunces because the word Confederacy is in the title. Some language has one meaning and one meaning only. Most carries different meanings depending on context. Nothing about the context of how "Dixie" is used in Alabama's fight song suggests it means anything other than "the South".

Dixie State University in Utah changed their university name recently. It adopted the name because Brigham Young and other Mormon settlers referred to the region, that the college would eventually be located in, as such. They grew cotton in that corner of Utah in the 1850s.

To be honest, the University has a ton of totally worthless schools and offices. This would be a good way to weed them out.
