Everyone needs to remember that the portal opens back up after spring practices.

Simpson's ratio of great plays to dumb plays doesn't stack up well to Milroe's.

Jim Harbaugh and his staff days ago bet that our QB wasn't smart enough to counter their plan
Take away the long deep passes and he's nothing.
It's documented for you

He'll will win the job...if Nick Saban gives him a legit opportunity.
I would not say this at all. Simpson has an opportunity but Milroe is already QB1. So if they improve at roughly equivalent rates in the offseason or not at all then status quo ante will hold.

Simpson improved a good bit
Simpson was never as bad as the "experts" on here thought. Half the people here don't know anything except a big play happened one way or the other.

We're back to the longstanding Alabama tradition where the backup is the favorite QB.
I'm not going to say Milroe won't have any competition, but I don't think it's a coincidence that his struggles were in games where the line played horribly. To say that Milroe will have to be the one to improve to keep his spot is a crazy thing to say.
I feel very comfortable going into next season with Milroe behind a much better center. And if Sayin blows the staff away or Simpson has an incredible off-season and wins the job from him, then we should be getting some top-notch, Heisman-level play from the quarterback position.

I just want to know what was going on in practice that allowed Buchner to be ahead of Simpson??

Probably wishful thinking there unless we get lucky. Can't help but remember Bryce didn't struggle much fielding snaps from Seth. Sure, there were a few that bounced before getting to Milroe, but there were also several that weren't great, but should have been caught and weren't.

Probably because his yips didn't really take off until 2023.

I said before this season that Young was elite at handling bad snaps. Milroe handled several bad ones just fine, but he's not going to be able to field them all. You can blame Milroe for some of the panic moments and indecisiveness at times, but blaming Milroe for consistently horrible snaps isn't fair.

Is that true, or does it just fit your narrative?

You do realize you're blaming horrible snaps on the QB to fit your narrative, no?

Buchner and Holstein will enter the portal I bet.

I don't really buy the whole "Milroe is starter no matter what" stuff
Me either. Milroe improved greatly over the course of the season, but he didn't have a 2018 Tua or 2021 Bryce season where there was simply no possible way anyone was capable of challenging them during the subsequent offseason. He needs to get better or he could definitely lose that job.

I mean, do you recall seeing anyone talking about McLaughlin's bad snaps before 2023? I could be wrong, but I don't recall it. I don't know which narrative you are referring to other than the narrative that Seth was really bad at snapping the football this season.

Simpson staying is excellent news.
With him, Lonergan, and Sayin to push Milroe, we should come out of spring with a great QB1, and a really good QB2 who won't cause me to wring my hands if he has to come in during a game.
I didn't include Holstein; it'd be great for him to stay as well, but that's just being greedy at this point. I'm assuming he'll hit the portal.
I think Simpson may have a better chance than folks realize of winning the job outright.
