Ty looked really good against UK and Chattanooga. This is really huge. Either Milroe will get better or he loses his spot to someone who is better. And I think after the Tua/Jalen situation Saban won’t hesitate to make a move.

I believe in Jalen tho

Regardless of how good the kid has been on a football field so far in his life, he's been playing against 16 and 17 year old kids. Next year he goes up against grown arse men. The difference is astronomical. Many posters don't grasp that.

I don't at all.

Unlike Seth, Cade never was paid a dime to play college football.

We're back to the longstanding Alabama tradition where the backup is the favorite QB.

I'm not going to say Milroe won't have any competition, but I don't think it's a coincidence that his struggles were in games where the line played horribly. To say that Milroe will have to be the one to improve to keep his spot is a crazy thing to say.

I feel very comfortable going into next season with Milroe behind a much better center. And if Sayin blows the staff away or Simpson has an incredible off-season and wins the job from him, then we should be getting some top-notch, Heisman-level play from the quarterback position.

I'm in complete agreement with all of the above!

If Simpson is out there delivering the ball on time in the Spring, Milroe has a competition on his hands.

And I'm this day...1) kids aren't worried about "walking around" money 2) at QB at the right school... Only one good year is needed to get to the NFL ( provided you are 3 yrs out of HS)

Is Milroe suddenly going to learn to read a defense during the spring? Experience obviously helps, but it may also be one of those things where you've either got it or you don't as a QB.

Ty may have it or not. I think he might be comparable as a runner to Milroe. Maybe not the straight line speed of Milroe, but he can move. How often did Milroe's straight line speed actually help us this year? A few times, but is it worth giving up the short/intermediate passing game? So if Ty really improves, it absolutely should be a competition this spring.

I just don't want anymore of the "winning the locker room" BS. Start the guy winning on the field. Make a decision after spring practice so the named starter can build rapport with his WRs during the summer. There is no need to keep the competition going through August practices again.

It is interesting that Simpson is staying. If Milroe is the starter next year the program has serious quarterback problems.

I remember when Mac Jones threw 2 interceptions in the Iron Bowl and everyone here said he was a horrible QB and no way he’d win the starting job the following year.

I remember that too. All of my buddies seemed to be upset that he got the starting spot. I thought he had one mistake in the Iron Bowl and played pretty good. The other pick hit his teammate in the back and it bounced off for a pick. Wasn’t his fault

IF Ty stays, that lets you know that there will be a competition. Love Milroe but this is a make or break offseason for him, Ty isn’t coming back to hold a clipboard

Alabama's in a relatively good position at QB. Probably the best it has been since 2018-2020 but I wouldn't compare it to those QB rooms for obvious reasons. The starter returns as a 4th year Junior. The backup is a 3rd year Sophomore. 3rd stringer is a 2nd year Freshman. Also have an Elite 11 winning QB that just arrived in December.

Simpson has a little bit of real game action experience v. USF. People sell him short because the offense wasn't spectacular but he hit a pass or two that got Alabama over the top. Lonergan has been a player all those who have practice access have raved about and he beat out his 5-star true freshmen classmate.

It is far from the days where Tua, Jalen, and Mac were in the same QB room. But it is not as dire as 2021-2023 where there was no depth behind the starter or no clear leader heading into the season.

Of course it was his fault. He threw the ball early because an end was barreling down on him, Najee was not ready to catch the ball.
He should have dodged him , thrown the ball away or taken the sack. Easier said than done but despite playing well he did cost us the game.

All I know is I wouldnt trade a QB room with Milroe, Simpson , Lonergan and Sayin for any QB room in the country and possibly one or two in the NFL.

This!! He looked much more comfortable and looked like the player that some were saying was going to start.

In fairness to Barnett, he’s may be the only QB transfer who didn’t start several games here that amounted to something eventually. He was never a star but he started a couple years at USF.

I’m pretty sure Star Jackson and Philip Sims were each just a collective figment of our imaginations.

Ty and Blake have one thing in common and it has nothing to do with football ;). .... as Biggie would tell you ask Puff Daddy.
