JMO Nick told Simpson and his father the QB position is open for all this spring.

If that doesn't occur this spring then Ty is out after spring drills.

The only down side, Ty will have missed spring drills at his new gig and will have to play catchup at his new gig.

At least Foster could lay the wood on kickoffs

Ty’s dad is a college coach, right? He may have told his son to keep sharpening his skill set and focus on starting in 2025.

I doubt that. Simpson could start at a lot of programs. Rees is not known as a QB guru. His skills would be a lot sharper playing against live competition each week than they would be a a back up. He goes to some place like Miss St and has a great year there and he would shoot up the draft boards.

Go to a place like Miss St and shoot up draft boards? Sounds like terrible advice which proves the point that his father obviously gave him good advice.

We know Nick is loyal to guys who stick it out. Ty is the next man up at Alabama right now. That’s a great spot to be.

All Mac Jones needed was one year and went first round.

I said earlier the dream QB scenario would be Milroe in 24, Simpson in 25 and then Sayin takes over. Most ppl didn’t like my take because they want Sayin immediately but how could you say no to a former 5 star in Ty Simpson taking over as a 4th year player? That would be a smooth transition.

Looks like it just might play out that way.

Now Milroe in 24 has to get better. He’s the guy but if he doesn’t improve and he’s still making the same mistakes then the QB spot will be very interesting next season.

Saban likely told Simpson he would get to compete in spring for the job and see how it goes after that. He could still easily hit the portal after A-Day depending on how things pan out.

Sure but if he sticks it out one more year he then turns into the leader in the clubhouse. He’s the guy. It makes sense why he’d choose that seeing that he loves Bama.

QB depends on the guys around you. You’re not likely to transfer to Mississippi State and shoot up a draft board as a QB.

Sure, that's a dream scenario for a fan, but the dream scenario for a player is to get to the NFL in three years, not sit as a backup for three years. I think it's really unlikely that that is his actual plan. His dream school was Oklahoma, so I don't think he is going to stay because he just loves Alabama.

Exactly what is he known for because we just had a historically bad season from the WR, RB, QB, and Ol so yeah... not a lot looking good with the offense and our 25 points a game

I saw guys running open all year, so it's hard blame them not getting the ball on Rees. Milroe couldn't even see his checkdown in the flat 90% of the time, so how often do you think he saw his 3rd read in the middle of the field?

Couple that with the low snaps and offensive line issues, I'd hold off on passing too much blame on the OC this season.

I know your QB needs to be a leader and not be a dick no one likes, but I don't like how it felt like a popularity contest in the locker room determined the starting QB...at least from the outside looking in.

If that's the case Milroe was probably buying everyone on the team nice Christmas presents with a little NIL money.

But what about LANK? Remember the shirts?

I hate that Terrion Arnold is leaving but at the same time I’m glad that he is. He and Milroe are real tight friends. The LANK bullshite was over the top and Milroe got way overconfident before the Michigan game. The press conference when he called out Bill O’Brien was cringey. I’m not a BOB supporter in any way but Milroe put his foot in his mouth with that statement. This spring will be interesting because people underestimate how talented Simpson is. He would be a highly sought after player in the portal.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but if Simpson enters the portal after Spring Practice, he will have missed the deadline (SEC rule) to play for another SEC team this fall. So, no Oklahoma (or any other SEC team) for 2024. Someone else on this board has hinted North Carolina has interest in him, though.
