Tagovailoa, who helped the Crimson Tide win an NCAA national championship in January, preached a message was all about perseverance. But while he was sharing some of the knowledge he's gained so far in his collegiate experience, the Tide's signal caller also confirmed a rumor that had been spreading – thanks to former Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin.

After Alabama won the national title, Kiffin – now the head coach at Florida Atlantic – claimed Tagovailoa had long been considering transferring to another school. According to Tagovailoa, that may have actually been the case.

"I called my dad and asked him if my offer to the University of Southern California was still available," Tagovailoa told the crowd of seventh and eighth graders. "I wanted to leave. I told my dad I wanted to go to a school where I thought it'd be easier for me and wouldn't challenge me so much."

He said his parents told him he had to push through, and he knew they were right. Still, Tagovailoa says, feelings of frustration crept in again as he accumulated more and more time on the bench for the Crimson Tide last season as their second-string QB behind Jalen Hurts.

"Even throughout my football season, I wasn't the starter," Tagovailoa continued. "I wanted to leave the school. So I told myself if I didn't play in the last game, which was the national championship game, I would transfer out. If I gave in, I don't think I would have seen the end blessing of where I am now."

I mean... could you blame him? Especially how the game was going, if they don't put you in there, it's probably not happening ever.

Nothing to feel bad about. Tua will be the starter, Jalen will transfer and Mac will be the backup next year. The. We will add some bodies for 2019.

I don't blame him. When you know your the better QB, when your OC knows your the better QB, when most of your team knows your the better QB and your still sitting on the bench, frustration happens.

Tua is one of the most accurate QB Bama has had, Hurts is one of the least accurate QB in school history.

Hate to say it, but Saban almost screwed up and lost the best QB he has ever had.

Idk what y’all are thinking but let’s hope it all works out and Tua is the starter and Jalen transfers. Jalen needs to transfer now. It’s become a toxic situation. When you combine Jalen’s dad’s comments, Tua’s comments, Saban’s hard-headed attitude where he won’t go ahead and name Tua the starter, I wish Jalen would realize the best option for him to play QB is somewhere else. Bc if not, there’s gonna be some tension between Tua and Jalen and we don’t need that

Couldn't even blame him. I had huge issues with him not playing, so not shocked he felt the same way.

The article is detailing how Tua is telling those kids the benefits of persevering to the end, and you hens wanna cluck about a toxic situation.

It boggles my mind how some of you make these incredible leaps if "logic" that literally have no basis is reality.

Just a bunch women at the beauty salon once again.

I never question Saban on anything....but I really want to know why he’s handled this the way that he has. I understand he probably wants to keep Jalen around and maybe talk him into staying, but that’s a bad idea, imo. The only way Jalen is gonna be happy here is if he’s getting snaps. And we don’t need a 2-QB system when we have a QB who can throw and run pretty well. Mac Jones isn’t a terrible backup either.

Oh look prevatt trying to control the narrative of a message board again. Seems like someone who enjoys bitching about this board so much would just frick off to woolly

Some of us have said it since the middle of last season that Tua would not sit on the bench for 3 years to play one. Some silly people actually expected that to happen, or at least, said on these boards it might. It was never going to happen like that.

This is how I look at it. Tua basically said if he didn’t get to play in the title game, he was leaving. In other words, he knew he was better than Jalen and that’s his way of saying it without actually saying it. So obviously Jalen is gonna hear this and then when you add on the comments from Jalen’s dad and you have both QBs who have basically threatened to leave if they didn’t win the job, it looks pretty toxic

America without pussies is an America that I'd hate to be a part of.

Put a red script "A" on it and everyone on the board can get one
