Where do you think Washington would get more pass thrown to him, UGA or Bama? We threw to Billingsley and Latu more than Washington is targeted at UGA by far.

Right, but I'm just wondering why you think Gilbert's decision has any effect on Washington's decision?

Gilbert is dynamic and if he's playing he's a mismatch either by size or speed or both. Gilbert is going to get targets by virtue of his talent. Same with Bowers, Pickens, Burton, the other TE, and I'm sure UGA has some other talented receivers that will be playing next season. Just seems like there may not be enough balls to go around to fit Washington in. Whereas we have a hole at the TE position. Not to mention it seems like our entire WR and TE groups are in flux

Gilbert is UGA’s Billingsley. Super talented but a huge unknown if they’ll be able to rely on him for anything.

By the time September rolls around it will be 21 months since Gilbert last played a down of football, and that's not even getting into the fact that he's a total headcase with some serious personal issues. I don't think you can assume he's going to ever play another meaningful and productive snap of football. If Washington is transferring because he thinks that guy is going to take targets away from him then he's about on Billingsley's level in terms of competitiveness.

Anyone by chance know how many seniors are graduating that are on scholly and not returning?

If nothing else the transfer portal is helping Saban trim the roster with ease. Fourteen already gone not counting seniors.

Reading between the lines Gilbert has a mental illness. Now, I don't know you personally but mental illness is quite common. Furthermore, this entire time Gilbert has been in school and has even been acknowledged for having good grades at UGA. So, what I'm about to say has nothing to do with football. This is bigger than football. Stop being a bitch and get off the kid's back. The kid is doing something positive with his life in spite of an illness he can't control whether he never plays football again. So, if anything Arik Gilbert should be applauded and so should Kirby and the staff at UGA for working with Arik through his issues. Saban would do the same thing for Arik.

21 months off isn't going to cause Gilbert to lose his skills especially since I'm sure he's been working out and practicing this entire time. Gilbert, if he comes back, should be fine physically.

Shane Lee can go and help make Maryland, Virginia, or VA Tech into solid programs again.

Not exactly. For instance, at ILB we've recruited at an extremely high level. Dontae Lawson, Demouy Kennedy, Ian Jackson, Jihaad Campbell, and Shawn Murphy. And, we may have one or both of the current starters at ILB to return.

Our depth is fine. We have young players who will be backups who have been in the program 1-2 years. I love Shane Lee, but he is not "quality" depth. If he is forced to play ILB for us we are in a shite ton of trouble.

If HTT returns.......

#1 - HTT (starter)
#2 - Lawson (starter)

Backups
Kendrick Blackshire, Ian Jackson, Demouy Kennedy, Shawn Murphy

And that doesn't include Braswell, who they may crosstrain in the middle.

Our depth at LB is absolutely fine. Almost no team has a backups (clear backups, not part time players) who are Juniors and Seniors.
