Thats one of my greater concerns so far with this defense.

Philon is the only guard who is forcing turnovers.

Right now Philon is the only "dog" we have. We have a lot of very good basketball players, but we need some more piss and vinegar in our style. I think Mo gives a good instinctive fight when he plays and Grant works his butt off, but can be pushed around at times. This conference isn't going to wait for us to get fired up this year and figure it out on the fly. It's murderers row in the sec every night.

I agree. We need Sears and Wrightsell to have more edge on the defensive end. Our guards are being blown by and it’s causing Cliff and Nelson to pick up unnecessary fouls. Our defense needs to get better. I hope other guys can feed off Philons energy.

Zaay Green had 17 points and six assists, Essence Cody added 15 points and nine rebounds, and No. 23 Alabama beat Clemson 73-39 on Tuesday to claim the Emerald Coast Classic's Bay Bracket. Women are 8-0

Well, you got your wish. All the guards were on it last night. Even Holloway was giving them hell in crunch time.
I loathe how teams like Houston and UTk play basketball so it's really satisfying to beat them at their own game.

My two cents on the game last night:
Even though it was an inconsistent whistle at times, it was nice to get some blocking calls on drives where a team is playing that bully ball bull shite.
Holloway was great on both ends of the court. If he, Philon, Sears, and Wrightsell are all on in the same game we are the best team in the country.
Lastly, that game was a testament to how experienced our roster is. Getting down late like we did and battling back where younger teams would fold was good to see. We will definitely be battle tested come time for our conference schedule.
ETA: 2 double doubles!

Does anyone know much about Dylan Harper or Ace Bailey for Rutgers? I know that Harper is the Big 10 preseason freshman of the year, and that Bailey is a preseason lottery pick (according to CBS)

Harper is fricking good, kid went off for 36 pts last night against ND, and did it efficiently.
Good news is, we are a much better team than ND. More length and athleticism. Put Reid or MoD on Harper and the other on Ace Bailey, those are the only 2 they have.

I’m eager to see how will come out tonight. Still early in the season but just went through a physical game that went to OT.
Cliff vs Rutgers tonight will be fun.

Aden Holloway played some good defense in OT last night.

Indiana is kinda becoming Nebraska Football. Only difference is EVERY year they hype Indiana up in the preseason and every year they massively disappoint

Indiana and that region produces talent. IU continues to wiff on bad hires.

Yep. Purdue has their coach who can recruit well and win. They’ve replaced IU as the power in that state.

Mike Woodson is a basketball terrorist whose grasp of the game has not evolved since the days of Iso Joe in Atlanta. With the amount of NIL money they've been spending they'll be good again as soon as they hire a competent coach. The only one they've hired since Knight was Kelvin Sampson, who they had to fire for NCAA shenanigans.

It will either be that or Philon on Harper with a lot of help. Wish we had Youngblood healthy for this assignment.

CBS college basketball page: not one article mentioning the Alabama win over Houston last night. One might think that a top ten match up that went into overtime would be front page news. I guess not.

Both are legit. Ace will give Flagg a run for his money for the top pick IMO. However they are all Rutgers has and won’t be close to enough to beat bama.
