I remember when JD was supposed to be a dunking phenom and I can’t remember the last time he attacked the basket with force.

I'd be interested to see what our record would be if JQ hadn't dropped from 43% to 24% from 3. As close as most of our losses are we're realistically 20-3ish if he shoots like he did last year even with the drop-off in team defense.

He plays like a 3* freshmen project.

Unless you win the conference championship (Reg Season or Tourney), the only thing that will be remembered from the season is how far you got in the NCAA Tourney. Even with conference championships, you have to have a reasonable showing in the Tourney to feel good about the season. If AU wins out prior to the NcaaT but drops the 8/9 matchup on the first weekend, no one will remember this team as being a great team and they will forever be viewed as less than their final four team. (And ask UVA about how important Tourney success is as #1 seed).
We realistically didn’t have the horses to repeat as conference champs this year, so it all comes down to tourney results. We haven’t exactly set ourselves up for a deep run at this point, but find a way to get in as a 6,7, 10, or 11 seed and you have a chance at a sweet 16 if you can upset the 2/3 seed. I typically hate the 8/9 seed, but honestly, I wouldn’t mind it if they seed us as a potential rematch with #1 Gonzaga. I think we may have the confidence edge in that game and match up well with them (don’t want to be in #2 seed Houston’s bracket…give me a big 10 #2 seed over Houston). We still need to play our way into the Tourney over the next 6 weeks, but I’m not going to get too up or down unless the effort just isn’t there. That’s the 1 thing they can control every single night. Our elite 8 run as an 8 seed was one of my favorite Tourney’s of all time. We had 3 point shooters and I had a good feeling we could take down #1 Stanford and shoot our way to a win against #3 Syracuse’s zone. This team is good enough to do damage in March if we get a decent draw, so keep battling boys!
P.S. If Chuck has turned a corner on toughness and rebounding, that will be huge going forward. I’m just hoping it wasn’t an anomaly of “super bowl” focus because all the talk about Tshiebwe. We need that effort each and every night!
P.P.S. I’m not sure I agree with all the negative posts about Oats’ presser. I wish he would have been even more praise worthy about the effort (holding that KY team to 66 means something…just ask Tenn or Kansas), but I didn’t think he disparaged the guys as much as others mentioned. He even indicated Shack seemed tired and didn’t have his legs. The most concerning thing to me was his quote about the Thursday practice and not knowing why it didn’t translate. I’ll give you a hint coach, because they had the day off prior to Thursday’s practice!!!

Admittedly I haven’t kept up with WBB this year. Is Curry on the hot seat?

Those are some good points!
BTW, P.S. stands for Post Script
If you want to add more after your P.S., you use P.P.S., which means Post Post Script
I only mention it because someone corrected me years ago and I am happy they did. I am not a grammar expert

No. We've been a bad program for a long time- last year was first tournament appearance in 22 years. We've had 5 winning seasons in the last 20 years and 4 of them were coached by Curry.

People keep talking about changing scheme.....to what? Are you guys under the impression this team would be good at running motion and making 16 footers? Running plays through the post? Taking the air out of the ball?
I don’t know. I do know one thing they are awful at - like literally one of the worst teams in the nation at - and that is making three pointers. So when we continue to just launch 35 a game, yeah, that’s a bad plan.

It should be scorching. After getting us to respectable, this year's team is bad. Really bad. We are currently 12th in the SEC at 3-8 (I guess technically 4-8 after today's win over 11th place Vandy) and 12-10 overall. If you look at Curry's career, she has a history of getting a team to a point and sliding back down to a plateau, never to return to the peak or go any higher. I don't think she can take us any further. Time for a change, for new blood. I don't think she survives this season, Byrne knows what needs to be done.

quote:The fans I’ve spoken with in Coleman think she’s gone. Byrne pulled the trigger on volleyball after their similar SEC showing this year and Coach Curry has been here a lot longer than the volleyball coach. It’s painful to watch how poorly they play. Two wins over winless auburn and one over (3-7) Vandy. Would love to see some success in this program. Hate it for the players who choose to come here. My gut feeling is that Byrne pulls the trigger here too.
Is Curry on the hot seat?
From RollTide.com
The Crimson Tide broke some hearts in Nashville this weekend, as the University of Alabama women's basketball team defeated Vanderbilt, 77-71, on the road in overtime, Sunday, Feb. 6. The Crimson Tide improved to a 12-10 (3-8) record on the season, while the Commodores fell to 12-12 (3-7) in 2021-22.

Definitely seems make or break. Any chance that 3 point shooting will finally regress to the mean? If we can just be decent instead of awful we'd win significantly more games. Mathematically speaking we literally shouldn't be able to keep shooting this poorly.

How about last week during the Baylor game? Auburn home game in Kessler's face?

Just melting honestly. Collin Sexton would dominate with this team and I think that’s why I’m so upset about Davidson, because he should be with this team.

Good morning fellow Bama bball fans! Friendly reminder that the random student they pulled out of the stands for the Full Moon challenge shot a higher percentage from halfcourt than our team of D1 players did from the 3 point line on Saturday.

Oats has the guys playing hard. We out rebounded Kentucky. However, if firing up brick after brick 3 pointer is the focus on the offensive end, he's got to be on the road recruiting athletic sharp shooters. Not just 4 or 5 star athletes who can't hit the broad side of a barn. Also, our big guys shooting more brick 3's than setting up or driving for more higher percentage inside shots is an issue.
