Thanks for that post - had forgotten some of the details. Do we know for certain if they will raze Coleman and build there or is another option on campus still on the table?
The plan is to build it in the Bryce/Softball Stadium area in the NW corner of campus.
Coleman will stay for graduations and such and because the practice facility is attached and new plus all the AD offices inside.

Wish the city would take over and make it a hockey/ice skating rink

I think the low numbers are for marketing purposes as well. If you know as a fan that less seats are available, you’re more likely to pay more for a seat to make sure you get one.

Makes sense. There are a couple of open spaces up there at the front of what used to be Bryce, or they could maybe build on top of one of the intramural fields next to the Rec. There are also already a few big parking lots that would be within walking distance. Hopefully we find out over the weekend or on Monday. Also, if Byrne is focused on the facilities at OM, UVA, DePaul, and James Madison we're going to get something really fricking nice. They all have fantastic arenas.

He said it’ll be 4 years from now before we even start building?
Edit: Now that I think about it that would actually make a lot more sense. No way we’d wait 4 years to even start building lol

That makes a lot more sense. That's 3 years and some change depending on when they break ground.

Just hoping some of this stuff will leak publicly by the weekend

A few guys in a basketball group im in say Byrne has essentially said it’ll seat 10k to 10.5k. They are all upset about it, but that really wouldn’t hurt my feelings. At most I hope it’ll seat no more than 12.5k and be built with all seats where you feel like you’re right on top of the court. That’s the best part about AU arena.
I sat in the mezzanine at Madison Square Garden for a Knick/Celtic playoff game back in the early 70s, and I literally had to look between my legs at the game. It looked like a bunch of ants running around down on the court!
You gotta be careful not to swing too far in either direction!

I don't think Sharpe will play for UK unless they get another injury to Washington or one to Grady. I think Calipari likes the way his team is structured and throwing a guy in at this point in the year could totally disrupt chemistry.
Big gamble because if you don't play him you may see him go to the NBA after the season without ever hitting the floor for you. However, it's also not out of the realm of possibility for somebody to come up with a sweet NIL deal to try and keep him around for one more year.
I honestly have no clue what Sharpe's NBA projection would be. I'm guessing first round, but is that top half of the first round? Top ten? I don't know that an NIL deal would do anything if that's the case.

There are several locations on Campus Drive around Bryce that would be great.
Would also be cool to have it on the North side of campus near Jack Warner Parkway.
Either way I'm excited.

Google Earth
You could fit 2 Colemans and their parking lots in the Rec fields so that would make sense. Not to mention a few sizable parking lots are already beside those fields

Some of the areas around Bryce will become an issue. They know there are bodies buried back there around the property from long ago. When they start finding those, I wonder what happens besides the project shutting down.

Byrne also recommended building a new arena

That lower level seating on the left better be the student section.

It is. The boxed area behind the students should be Tide Prides area IMO
