I couldnt help but notice, we were in the bonus within 4 minutes of the 2nd half, and Memphis, playing physical only had 2 fouls with like 4 minutes left in the game. Certainly not the reason we lost, but it was frustrating.

I mean if you’ve watched college basketball long enough, you know the home team is going to get most of the calls. It’s why winning on the road is so tough.

Need South and LaTech to keep winning and give us two more Q2 wins.

They made Bama pay for those fouls…67% FT first 9 games; 80% last night. The box score was almost identical except for FTs. Their centers’ dunks skewed FG% and added to their assist total. Other than than that, very even contest..

Have any of our players commented on the background and funky floor coloring?

our bigs just cannot rebound. 2 each for Gary and Gurley.
Zero, for Bediako. Almost 7 feet tall and zero rebounds.
And of course Miles had zero rebounds. When we get 2 of those guys in there together, they dont guard them. Their defender just sluffs off into the lane, and takes away our dribble drive. They cant make a 3, so there is no need to go out on them. Just get and Shack and Quinerly's face, let them drive because the lane is blocked.

Last night fricking sucked. They had our defense running around like chickens with our heads cut off.

BINGO!!
If you're gonna try to figure the problem out, THIS is where you've gotta start! Hell!..the Houston game was actually worse than last night!

The rebounding issue in the Houston game I kind of chalked up to Houston just being a great rebounding team and one of those nights the ball just wasn't bouncing Bama's way.

Now it's been two games in a row of Bama's bigs just flat out not rebounding. Starting to worry about the ability to fix this problem now. I know Memphis is a good rebounding team too, but Alabama is going to face a bunch of good rebounding teams in the SEC very soon.

Yeah, basically everything we were concerned might be an issue coming into the game happened. We had a letdown game against a desperate and talented team. The writing was all over the wall for this one. It’s hard to even blame them after the recent stretch of games, but it’s going to be the same scenario in March, so that part is a little concerning.

I hate to even try to out a positive spin on the showing last night, but I would have taken the results from the last three games in a heartbeat if I was offered them a month ago.

It is what it is at this point. A bad loss to a talented team that you hope puts it together the rest of the way. Put it behind us and finish the OOC playing well. Hopefully we can use the next two games to figure some things out

If the goal is to make noise in the NCAA Tournament, then we can't rebound like this. I'm not sure we could make noise in the SEC Tournament if we rebound like this.

I wish we had and easy game coming up to work Tchikou and Ambrose Hylton more, but we really don't. Maybe Jax St, but they are favored to win their league and will be sky high motivated. Colorado State is a top 25 team, really good. Getting Rojas back may help because he is tough. Right now Gary is our best inside player, but he is really a wing.

This is where the schedule works against us...no easy games where you can work Ambrose-Hylton and Tchikou in to get them PT

I'm not down on Gary, he's limited. If he were 6'8 or 9 he'd be hell on wheels in there, as it is he gives you all he has. He's a better player than last year without a doubt but...he's a wing. Gurley. he may come around yet but it hasn't happened, YET.

Bediako is coming along but must rebound a lot better. As I said before we will go as far as the bigs allow.

JQ & Miles are terrible defenders! Shack is good at times. You gotta want to stay in front of your man. These don't want to yet so give Jusuan somebody's minutes and I don't care if it's JQ or Miles.

Does anyone have any clue what happened to South Alabama last night in the NET?

They won and dropped 14 spots from 64 to 78. I feel like that has to be an error.

We played a really poor game last night, no doubt. But people need to chill with regards to how "terrible" a loss to Memphis is.

It's a Q1 loss. It isn't going to hurt our resume at all come March. I doubt we even drop out of the Top 15 next week. They were a Top 10 team 2 weeks ago for a reason. They have ridiculous talent. They finally put it all together in front of a sold-out home crowd and caught us having a dud. It happens.

There are plenty of reasons to be concerned about last night's performance (defense, rebounding, and a cold shooting night), but the fact that it was to Memphis on the road ain't one of them.

While true, from the outside looking in, I love the way Bama scheduled this year.

All of these tough games will serve them very well down the road. This would be a horrible schedule for a team just looking to slide into the tournament but obviously Bama is past that.

It's funny to me to see LSU and Auburn fans around other sites crowing over last night and our Iona loss.

As of today, there are 3 teams in D1 (out of 358) that have yet to play a Quadrant 4 game, and we are one of them.

We have played 5 Q1/Q2 games. That's the same amount Auburn and LSU have played, combined.

5 of Auburn's 9 wins are Q4 wins. As noted above, we haven't even played a Q4 game yet.

Strong S.O.S will do wonders for us come selection Sunday. We’ll have experience playing and beating top teams in hostile environments. Q1 loss won’t ruin the season any more than a Q3 loss to WKU did. I trust Oats and Co.
