In the end, what matters is PT and role. They will all want to play at least 26 minutes and be a starter. They will want to play more of a role.

I don’t know why everyone is so high on Holloway. He was 30% from three and his body language was terrible at times last year. Maybe a change of scenery, change of system but I’d be leery.

The hard part about basically bringing in a brand new team every year isn’t necessary the skill set, but the mind set. Having everybody on the same page and the team before the individual. See Arkansas last year.

I know most prolly don’t care but she was one of our better players . Curry is doing a good job slowly building this team

Because he was a 5* recruit and while stargazing is kind of stupid in football, the hit rate is a lot higher in basketball. It's pretty uncommon for a 5* recruit to not at least become a productive college player.

Also you can't deny the allure of taking an underperforming Auburn player and turning him into an All-SEC type guy. We don't recruit against them head to head very much in basketball, but the narrative would be unavoidable and it would drive their fans fricking nuts.

The talent is there. He became mindfricked and lost all confidence to the point that he was almost unplayable at the end of the season. If he comes here, my hope is Oats builds up the confidence over the summer and he shows why he’s a 5* next season. With that being said, I’m sure he’ll sign elsewhere and pages of discussion will be moot

Bro you have been a bama basketball fan for too long to make that statement.

I'm not talking star player who lives up to the hype. I'm just saying that very few of them end up being outright busts, so the urge to buy low on a guy like Holloway makes sense. Pollard is the only one I can think of that we have signed who was basically unplayable. The worst of the rest I think can fairly be classified as disappointing but worthy of minutes.

Your body language would be terrible too if you had to play for chinstrap and that program...

I've never understood these declarations by players that have exhausted their college eligibility. I appreciate the "Thank you" to the fans and team/coaches but at the end they declare they are going to the Pros. No shite! It feels like LinkedIn posts have creeped into college players postings.

I've just reached a point where I unconditionally trust Oats and his process to evaluate transfers.

I told my boss today I'm declaring for the NBA draft. He said "That's great, what's the status of our Q1 financial statements?"

Holloway's splits before they lost to us in Tuscaloosa and after are pretty nuts

First 18 games (through 1/20)
- 113.3 off rating (Estrada was at 114.4)
- 46.1% eFG%
- 34.8% 3PT (Josh Hubbard at State was at 36.9%)
- 81.8% FT (Sears was 81.9%)
- 25.8% assist rate
- 10.0% turnover rate
- 3.7 assist to TO ratio (led SEC point guards)
- 44.1% close 2 fg% (this was bad all year)

Last 17 games (1/21 to end of season)
- 88.9 off rating (last SEC pgs)
- 34.2% eFG (last SEC pgs)
- 21.7% 3PT (2nd last SEC pgs)
- 70.0% FT
- 17.6% assist rate
- 15.0% turnover rate
- 2.3 assist to TO ratio
- 22.7% close 2 fg% (last SEC pgs)

He just completely collapsed mentally.

I wonder if that was around the time that Bruce publicly said something to the effect of “we have guys who need to stop shooting when they’re missing.”

My biggest concern with Holloway is that he never is able to finish at the rim consistently. He's been a highly regarded shooter for all but 8 weeks of his life going back to high school - in his shot, consistency and range. He's going to be a good shooter here. Finishing at the rim will be the difference in him being just another nice shooter who can only space the floor with range vs a dynamic PG.
