Agreed. When you let absolutely massive guys like Clingan and Edey just throw an anchor down underneath the basket and stay there for the entire possession they don't even have to play basketball. They just have to be patient.

Where are you fellas seeing our guys included in a mock draft? I’ve checked probably 5 or 6 now and haven’t seen anyone.

Well I have lived in Michigan so I won't be nervous about that one at all.

I watched a lot of basketball this year and I can't remember seeing a 3-second call made a single time, despite the fact that players (our own sometimes included) were regularly hanging out in the lane for 5-10 second stretches. I thought maybe they had eliminated the rule, but no, it's still on the books. They have just stopped calling it, for whatever reason. It changes the game completely.

Oats is originally from B1G country, he lived in Michigan for a long time, and he is apparently pretty good friends with Izzo after interacting with him at a lot of Michigan State's basketball camps. That's pretty much all there is to it. It's not like he's an alum or anything, but the draw to go back home is always going to be there for some people. Oats seems to have turned himself into a bit of a Southerner at this point though so I'm not so sure going back to the frozen North is going to carry much appeal for him.

Man spent a decade in Michigan and it becomes home.

If Oats took his name out of the hat for Kentucky I think he would do the same for Michigan St. Feel like the whole Izzo thing is way overblown.

Any news on assistant coaches? Hoping Luke Yachlich gets a call.

The one thing I think Nate Oats wants is his OWN LEGACY.

What I mean by that is...
If he went to Kentucky, Michigan State, or wherever....those places already have been established by GREATS. They've already had brands and these programs were already built.

Alabama is a place we're he can build his own LEGACY & BRAND. Nate Oats is turning Alabama into a perennial powerhouse and he has a chance to win a National Championship here. He's breaking all kinds of records now and we've made it to our first ever Final Four.

This outweighs whatever people have to offer because Greg Byrne has given him the resources and the players/fans have bought in to this Brand!

Duke went to the Finals two years before Coach K arrived.

Yea, Coach K obviously took Duke to another level but Bill Foster and Vic Bubas really created the foundation in the 60s and 70s. They went national runner up, R32, E8 in his last 3 years there. And Vic Bubas had elite teams in the 1960s as well (3 Final Fours).

K actually came in and they fell way back for the first 3 years before he got things cranked up. Duke had been to 4 final fours and been national runner up 2x before K even got there.

3 years before. They went to the regional final the year before Coach K was hired, the second round 2 years before, and were runner up the year before that.

That coach, Bill Foster, then went to South Carolina and Northwestern and in 13 seasons never made another NCAA tournament.

Nate's only request was apparently for a new practice facility. Guessing it's not attached to the Coliseum, the women get the current one (which is nice) and it's another step towards a new arena (plus a basketball taj mahal built exactly to Nate's very specific wants).
