Unfortunately Heisman is the practical discriminator. It’s going to filter out some true all-time greats to wear the uniform but we already honor those men in different albeit not as monumental ways

I think given some of the horrendous statues floating around we should probably go with a CAD design for the face so we don’t end up with a bunch of stuff that looks like it was done by a first year art student.

I'd honor all the Heisman winners something. Not sure about a statue. Maybe, unless I heard a better suggestion.

One reason these bad likenesses happen is because the owners cheap out or things are put on a marketing timeline rather than the sculpture’s timeline.

I've got an uncle who has made statues for several universities. And sometimes the people in charge are idiots that don't know shite about decent art. They didn't really know what they want, and often get talked into terrible ideas. And as you said, cheaping out and unrealistic timelines also lead to problems. Though cheaping out leads to the funniest results...
I like how perfectly they captured Colt's face as Marcel Dareus was coming his way.

Just don't use the same guy that did the Saban statue. Jesus Christ, every year I pray some deranged Tiger or Vol ties a tow rope around it and destroys it so they have to do another one.

I'd be fine with all the Heisman winners getting their own statue.
I'd also make a very select few additional exceptions for non-heisman winners also, such as Derrick Thomas and Don Hutson.

I would like for the College Football HOF players to get a large plaque and the Heisman winners get a bust, both in an area near but separate from the coaches.
There are far fewer HCs (5) than players (22 currently in HOF, with probably at least 10-15 more in the near future) and the coaches spend far more time with the program than the players (3 or 4 years typically vs 8, 16, 25, 7, 17).

DT is certainly in the conversation. But what about John Hannah, considered one of if not the best OL to ever play the game? Or Don Hutson, who still holds NFL receiving records despite playing 80 years ago when the run game dominated football? Or Derrick Henry who is bound for the NFL HoF? No disrespect at all to Derrick, but Alabama has been blessed with a legacy of greatness that is unrivaled in college football and to recognize one great player and snub the rest does them and Alabama a disservice.
That’s why I think Mark Ingram alone shouldn’t get a statue. I would prefer another way to honor our Heisman winners. Maybe plaques around Denney Chimes with their likeness and a very brief bio? A single statue of the Heisman trophy with their names on it? I dunno but I don’t want to clutter up the walk of champions with more statues for opposing fans to deface and disrespect. But I do think we should come up with an alternative way to honor them.

Derrick Henry needs a statue if Mark Ingram gets one. Henry had the 7th most rushing yards ever in a college season in 2015, won the NC AND took home the Heisman. He also is one of the most dominant RB's to ever play college football, especially in the SEC.
