Pretty douchey thing to say.

My point is, out of the billion exercise science graduates in the world, 499 million of them would crawl to Tuscaloosa for that job. Saban just has to pick the one he wants.

I don’t know about his coaching abilities, but I am willing to bet that Cochran will be a damn good recruiter... I think him leaving is not that big of a deal, I think most people are upset because it is Georgia/Kirby.

Then you have the Georgia people who are excited because they think they won something against Bama.

Nick Saban tells ESPN why Scott Cochran chose to leave Alabama (BamaOnLine | segments)
quote:

“Scott did a really good job for us here and was a big part of our success, but he was looking for a new career path,” Saban told ESPN. “He wanted to get on to the field coaching and would like one day, I think, to be a head coach. We didn’t really have anything here to offer him along those lines, and Georgia did. I understand him wanting to take on that path.”

“We’re in a good position to bring in somebody at the top of their profession, and I think we’ll have a lot of people interested,” Saban said. “I’m excited to see who all is out there.”

I’m having a hard time getting worked up over this. It was time for a change. Too many injuries (not gonna blame him though) and the fact that we had become soft the last couple of years. While I liked Cochran, I hated his schtick. I’m glad we won’t have to hear him screaming over the stadium speakers anymore.

As long as we have Nick, we'll be just fine. He'll make a fantastic hire and the machine will roll on.

Came across this post on reddit, and it seems to be a few people backing this up so there might be some truth to it

"I'm hearing this a mutual split between Saban and Cochran. The players weren't buying into his schtick as much as the past, the injuries have piled up, and lack of development in other guys ended up just being a recipe for disaster. They both thought it was time to move on."

Meh.

I'm not sure I'm buying the authenticity of a Reddit post. I think many Alabama fans feel that way. However, I do find it interesting that Cochran was reportedly not permitted to say goodbye to the team before he left for Athens.

Wonder if Saban will consider Josh Chapman? Is Terry Jones jr still with us? If so he has a lot of experience under his belt.

I'm guessing the fact that he is now a coach on a team we play in the current football season is probably one of Sabans internal rules.

It makes sense, and I'm sure Cochran understood.

Is Chapman still with the program? He’s had some off the field issues

I agree 100 percent. Scott in my opinion got a little to big for his britches.

His techniques aged out like 5 years ago. Kirby is trying to run 2012 Alabama in 2020.

There is nothing in Cochran’s history that makes me think he can coach special Team

I’d imagine all the coaches will help and coach him along. Kirby did it purely for recruiting and his weird fascination to beat Saban at anything

So... less than 50%? That's not very encouraging.

The only thing I can realistically take from this is Scott Cochran no longer wanted to be our S & C coach. That's it. If coach decided to use him on any on-field position he was no longer going to do for us what he accomplished these last 13 years.

At that point, we were always going to need the next best thing. So here we go, regardless.

Well, the rest of them would walk.

Ok, ok, you got me. I originally got my trillions and millions mixed up. In the process of sorting that out, I didn't notice I'd shorted my point by 500 million crawlers.
