If he wants an on the field position, I am wondering why he never stepped up at Bama? Surely, Nick would have made him one if that is what he wanted. Odd he jumping to UGA in that capacity.

But what does he have to offer in terms of being a position coach?

I saw someone mention recruiting, I could see him being a good recruiter. But outside that...

If he was moving on to a position coach no matter what, I'm glad he's going to Georgia to do it. He seemed to do a good job in the S&C role, hope we find a good replacement.

Has Scott ever been an on-field coach? By my count, Saban is now the last coach standing from our last national title team, way back in 2017. That's amazing.

Maybe our injury luck will improve.

I mean, I'm not going to pretend I'm happy he's leaving. But, I don't think it's a huge deal. There have to be a billion barely employed "exercise science" graduates out there to choose from.

I'm not happy that he's going to Georgia, but I'm certainly not mad either. I feel like he's been slipping the last few years and I find it weird that he's leaving in the middle of the fourth quarter program. Perhaps it's just the conspiracy theorist in me, but I'm wondering if this was a mutual parting of the way?

The timing is just odd.

I think Kirby knew damn well and good it was the 4th quarter program timing and did this on purpose. Kirby knows he can’t beat Saban.. he can only hope to frustrate him to retire. I would damn near want Auburn to win a title before UGA now

Why are Georgia fans acting like this is a big deal and that Bama fans are all broken up over it? I don’t understand

I'm just not as broken up about it as you are. I have been complaining about Scott Cochran for the last two years. Part of me is glad he's gone.

Does this mean we won’t be adding 20lbs too much to our defensive players making them lose all of their explosiveness anymore???

I’m not trying to be the guy on the message boards who says “we didn’t need him anyway!” when we lose out on a 5-Star Recruit. But, in all honesty, we haven’t been stronger, faster, or quicker than other teams since around 2018 like we were from 2008-2017. Plus, our guys are catching a lot of injuries lately, and I really can’t find anyone else to blame, that’s gotta fall on Cochran a little bit.

Yea, I’m not bitter. I think it’s best for all parties involved. Things have seemed a little stagnant for awhile

My prediction is Jason Poeth will be the next S&C coach. If Saban wants to keep the same type of guy and system then that’s who we will probably see. I trained with Poeth in HS when he owned his own S&C company in mobile called Titan Athletics. Not trying to scare anyone if he is hired but he pushes too hard at times and a lot of guys who have shown promising careers have gotten injured by his program

It does seem like Cochran has kinda been on cruise control these last 4-5 years

There's some major recency bias (that doesn't make much sense) going on with Cochran.

People on here want to lay all injuries at his feet, and want to attribute some intangible quality loss with the S&C team for Alabama's poor results recently.

I just hope everyone remembers how they felt when the video broke of him talking about UGA's funeral before the blackout game. This guy, for better or worse, provided a very real edge for our players and program. I hope all of that gets remembered while we are having the "I'm glad he's gone" conversation.

Same here. His schtick had worn super thin.

And I put part of the injury plague on him.
