Who's on the short list to replace him?

I believe it’s more than ok for people to wish him well and thank him for the things that he’s provided the University.

I also don’t see a problem with people pointing out that things have seemed stagnant for a little bit.

It’s as unfair to judge him just off of the injuries the last few years as it is the the “yea yea yea” gimmick over the first few.

Cochran is, without a doubt, one of the Mount Rushmore guys behind this dynasty. He had his hands in all of it and hopefully people reflect and remember that.

Guy is an all time Bammer.

The biggest risk, IMHO, is the trust Saban had in him when coaches couldn't be around. He did a lot of stuff with kids and had great relationships.

The S&C stuff is at worst a wash and possibly an improvement.

Hope he does well - he was one of the keys that helped make this program into what it is.
I sure hope we don't see some kids hit the transfer portal, then go straight to Georgia. Kirby would instigate something like that in a heart beat, but I hope Scott would be above it.

Sometimes a change is needed for all parties. 12-13 years in the same role can lead to things becoming stale for the coach and players.

But, I don't think it's a huge deal. There have to be a billion barely employed "exercise science" graduates out there to choose from.

Pretty douchey thing to say.

You know how this works: when they leave we shite on them and talk about how we just upgraded the position.

Everyone is completely free to have their own opinion on this or any subject related to the program.

It seems as though people are ready to rejoice over Cochran leaving when he is a Day 1 guy who came with Saban when many pundits believed the program was unsalvageable.

For those who believe that the S&C program was stagnant, I would like to know what, specifically, they are talking about.

I appreciate the fact that he left the NBA as an Assistant Strength Coach, to come be Bama’s Head Strength Coach. My gosh, who in their right mind would make that move?

As far as stagnant, plenty of former players will tell you that some of the things being done are outdated and needed to be tweaked.

I have no problem with Coach Cochran and appreciate the things that he’s done. I have no idea if things are outdated or not. I said that I wish him the best and that I think this was the best for all parties involved. That’s not taking away from the things he has done. I just believe change isn’t always bad

Oh good grief. There are exactly zero players that are there because of Cochran.

Firmly believe Jeff Allen had input that a change needed to be made.

Scott's program was outdated.

I would venture to say that Alabama football in 2007 was not as attractive a gig as it is today. Scott Cochran played a major role in that.

Where are these quotes? I'm genuinely curious because I have not seen them.

After your edit:

I agree with this. I hope that he is successful (to a degree) and that he can transition to being an old field coach. The guy deserves some level of respect from Bama fans.

I’ll be as vague as I can so I won’t throw folks under the bus. A former Bama player trains folks for the draft and things like that. He has numerous players, mostly former, drop in all of the time and discuss Cochran. I’ve never claimed to be an insider and I’m not one, but I’ve been there as these discussions were taking place. I can’t say I contributed because I didn’t know about it, but I mostly listened and asked stupid questions

They all respected Cochran, every single one liked him. They just think some things are an “old” way of doing things and the thought process needs to change in some ways getting results.
